It's a xmas bonus. So you can use it for going on holiday and Xmas presents. Also since we get paid early in December January is extra long. So helps a crap load. If you get one.

I am very lucky, I work for an amazing company!! Most employees get either 13th, 14th or 15th cheques at the end of the year depending on your performance We also get free staff massages, free staff lunches and FREE drinks on Friday at the sky bar on the roof. I feel companies should really give their staff these perks as this makes us want to work harder which in turn benefits us and the company!

Yep I think it was intended to help companies employees have a really good and festive December and not have to worry too much about financial strains on the budget. Thats why I can't understand why a lot of companies now split it over the year and pay you out monthly. They may as well claim that to be your salary and say you don't get a thirteenth cheque.

I get a sales based incentive bonus in August. Our financial year end.

Self employed. I give 13th salary on your birthday and the bonus depends on how the company's done that year. I don't make money, you don't make money.

We don't get 13th cheques, we do however get a prepaid visa card with not a lot loaded onto the card but at least you can buy yourself a Xmas gift.
