It is a choice and i fully agree some people shouldnt have them but equally there are plenty who shouldnt have a drivers licence and car either. I survived here over 30 odd years without a gun and if crime wasnt so rampant and becoming worse each day i still wouldnt have one. Unfortunately security and police would take far too long to be of any use. Your last paragraph is my biggest concern but the reality is its you or them. We just have to do our best to survive.
It may be a false hope I am clinging to, but I feel most burglars (not on farms), are there to try and steal something as opposed to rape and murder, and they should flee when spooked. That is why I try my best to have the best way to keep burglars out, and if they do get in, the alarm and dogs hopefully makes them flee. In terms of other crimes that may turn violent, I'll let a hijacker take my car, no use risking your life over a car that is insured. I was involved in an attempted hijacking, but luckily the hijackers didn't coordinate well, and I managed to speed away. I've been held up at knife point, as a batchelor my house was burgled while I was at work, my car was broken into, that same car was stolen eventually, they tried to steal my gate motors, but couldn't, so they stole some items from the yard. I don't think a gun would have helped in any instance, not even the knife incident, as it happened so fast, and I was on the backfoot. Attempting to draw a gun would have gotten me stabbed.

Anyway, my decision not to own a firearm is because of my mental health issues. I know for a fact that if I owned a gun, I would not be typing on this forum today.

Then I have a pellet gun, would love the 50 cal, but would probably be illegal to import even with a gun license.....

It is pretty lethal....
Ja I dunno hey, law requires a licence for anything over 5mm I think. @Tabac will know

And the amount of joules is also taken into consideration when what is a 'toy' and when you need a licence

There's an act from all the way back in 1985, Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act.

Basically because the Gautrain rules state it's not allowed, the powers given in the Act make it enforceable by law. Almost all other "No Gun" signs don't have legal backing, just right of admission so all they could do is ask you to leave. But no so with the Gautrain.

He took out the rifle, fiddled with it, and it went off. The bullet hit the wall about 30cm from where I stood.

A trigger happy a-hole fired a shot at us

I'm sorry you struggle with your mental health. Hang in there, mate.

I need something for plinking and the up coming zombie apocalypse.......seems this will work well....... :D

You can do some damage with 200 x 0.68 nylon skullbreakers in a paintball gun. Cheap and cheerful and better than standing with your dick in your hand.

Did manage to find this, not sure how legit the website

I want to do a little "wet" work some times, exploding zombie skulls is far more satisfying...........
