So many people think that. Its sad.
Also thought it would be a pain...till i decided to just get it done. I was fortunate enough to know the DFO before he retired and not have too much of a hassle getting to see him which seems to be the biggest hurdle for a lot of people?

No. I don’t believe owning a gun would improve my chances of survival.

Its not that hard... Just a bit of a wait...
Depends where you're applying. I swear different stations just make up their own rules, and CFR isn't playing by anyone else's rulebook.

Weirdly enough the fact that the government doesn't want people to have firearms made me more determined to get one. Governments attempting to disarm citizens other than their own thugs has historically not ended well for the governed.

For sure... Before i saw the main guy the assistant DFO told me i needed this that and the other for the application... I sorted all of that out only to have the DFO throw half the stuff in the dustbin anyway... He also made me go back to the gun shop as he wouldnt accept the electronic signature thing on the paperwork from them...i got to listen to a heated exchange on the phone between them all but at the end of the day what they want is what they get.

Same, only places I don't carry are the places with metal detectors (home affairs, etc) and on the Gautrain (because I found out that is actually a criminal offense, not just a right of admission thing).
What makes it a criminal offense on the gautrain?

Which sangoma did you piss off?
Most of these happened in a relative short period of time, when I just started out on my own. Salary of my first job forced me to live in a less affluent area of GP, and safety and security wasn't a priority at that time of my life as much as it was wine, women and song...

2nd most admin I have had to do after buying a house lol. People just have to start. There are enough places to help anyway, it's starting that people avoid. Anyone can go do proficiency. Take it from there.

Best time to start was YESTERDAY, second best is TODAY.

The hardest part of the process is waiting. You feel like a kid in a candy shop on your first application and check the APP 300 time a day hoping for some change/movement.

Was on a USA gun forum the other day and someone from some or other state there was moaning that they want to make it law that you need to do a free competency test and get this... Wait 7 days before you can take your gun home... Lol.

Torture! Competency I was at CRC for almost 3 months lol. You start wondering if it's lost. Now license CFR for almost a month. I still check daily anyway lol.

I know the feeling.

My apps are still at payment received, hoping the DFO will take the applications to Prov tomorrow.

Waited 2 weeks for them to capture the application and now other week and still no movement

Funny thing is there is some people who get approved in 25 - 35 days, and here I am waiting

I have one of these:

Actually considering going to CityGuns tomorrow though, I believe they are a onestop shop that can help from start to end of application, licensing, competency, etc.

I also have as well as a paintball gun with a hopper full of nylon skullbreakers. Oh, and a Glock 43x.

But I would seriously recommend Legally Armed. They have people all over the country and as well as doing all the paperwork and assisting where necessary, many have a working relationship with the local DFO to ask the odd question or see about getting the application on the system etc.

As I mentioned above, I recommend using Legally Armed. The local rep made the application a breeze.

What would the steps be, start contact with them?
Or first go to CityGuns, check out different FAs, and see what I may want?
