Can't comment on the hardware problems as I've not even seen a Touchbar models in the flesh.

But it's the best OS out there and I again can't stand being forced to use Windows now.

I have used Windows 10 and openSUSE for development, I prefer either of those to macOS. The one thing I like about macOS is that when it does have a crash, I've not lost any work.

Touchbar, and the Mac in general.

On my model:
- Sound issue I mentioned - really irritating. Means I can't use it for conference calls without a headset or for presentations
- Touchbar crashes every now and then
- Keyboard issues with at least two of the touchbar models in my office, they needed to go in and have the keyboards replaced
- Cracking /snapping sound from when it wakes up - I don't know what causes this

Personally, I don't like the OS. Yes, on the terminal its like linux, but Finder is pain and the fact that I don't have home / end keys on the keyboard is a struggle. All apps don't use the same keyboard shortcuts for home and end, so now I need to use different key combinations, or remap keys in the apps if I can.

No touchbar issues with ours, and no sound issues either. Did you get the ones giving problems altogether? Could be a problem batch or something?

In the real world Apple would replace them for you in a heartbeat with that many problems. But alas the criminals at Core Group will make you book them in and give them back to your grandchildren...

How long have you been using it?

Is it not maybe a case of getting used to it and becoming a natural at it?

Not saying it's you (as a Linux user I expect it not to be the case) but most of the time I hear people complain about something not being on OS or not working as expected it's because they don't know how.

Even as a Linux geek it's the best *nix distribution out there.

Owned about 10 different Macbooks in the last 24 months. Ive never bought one new, they tend to keep 2nd hand value quite well, so its easy to "test" a unit for a few weeks / months before moving on to the next.

Surprisingly I like the latest 13 & 15" MBP the least due to Price, lack of ports, lack of long charging extension cable, and touchbar.

Retina in 13 & 15inch is my 2nd favourite, offering excellent best bang for the buck. Still not my Favourite due to lack of upgrade ability, and/ or crazy prices of Apple SSD's

All time favourite is still the 2012 13inch MD101. i7 2.9Ghz, 16gb of ram. 256SSD for the OS and an 1tb Hybrid HDD in die CD Rom spot via a HDD caddy.

The actual macbook cost me R5000 second hand (came with the 1tb only). The RAM and SSD cost me an extra R2000. For R7000 all in, I think you cant get anything better.

And this it can be concluded that macbook constitutes 50% of the laptops out there
Or, that Apple owners are more likely than other owners, to tell people they are Apple owners, by a ratio that is inversely proportional to the popularity of Macbooks.

Or that non macbook owners are so embarrassed by their own laptops, that they don't want to reply to such a demeaning question
