There are many buying and selling frauds. Cannot trust anyone. In this case Seller has a fridge to sell. She is relocating. Can only handover the fridge end Feb. It’s needed until this time (understandable). She wants a deposit to show that I am serious and that I will not just leave her in a lurch on her last day. She will have no time to then sell.

Do I pay the deposit? If I don’t and wait until end Feb it may be sold already. If I pay, what if she just disappears or sells the fridge to someone else (and does not refund me) or claims I never paid. Maybe she was not really relocating and it was all a ruse.

Escrow? Would this work?

I intend to see the fridge first.

Are people still falling for these kind of things? Is the OP serious? April is still more than a month away

Is this the only fridge left in the world? Then maybe.

Otherwise, no... hell no.

Exactly, how can you trust someone who lives in a failed state

Damn, just to think I wanted to warn the guy about the failed state and current civil war and this could have been a trap and all that... instead I thought to keep the message short. I am glad to see people are learning though.

This sounds like a kakgedagte, walk away

I also have a deadline for buying a fridge and becoming a bit desperate
You would not have started this thread is you didn't already have reservations.

You seem desperate to lose your money despite the advice everyone seems to be giving you - walk away.

FWIW I just searched FB marketplace and there are hundreds of refrigerators in my area. Hundreds.

I always learn from you, keep spreading the message.

Many of those hundred are actually clear scams. Selling at unbelieavble prices behind Whatapp business (fake) accounts. Only on-line and you have to pay in full before delivery.
