Personally I don't like to be around kids that were never spanked. I find them to be selfish, self-absorbed and ill-behaved. Give me disciplined kids any day of the week. They are able to sit still and have adult conversations. They have come to realise that life is not all about them getting their own way by throwing tantrums.

My wife and I were with a Mom for a day a few weeks ago at a birthday party in a park who was all progressive and "didn't spank their kids", I could detect a hint of snootiness when I told her that I was disciplined as a child and our kids were all disciplined.... when it was time to leave she called the kid over but the kid was playing and didn't come. She had to call the kid like 3 times... eventually she had to go over there and pick the toddler up... who then turned around and scratched the mother in her face. Haha, the look of shock on her face was too glorious to behold. I was busting myself trying to not open my mouth and say "That's why you need to spank your kids", but I think I didn't have to say it... she was obviously thinking it.

Be VERY careful about spanking your kids in public though these days. It is not advisable at all any more.
