Do you tip delivery drivers?

Nope. I'm already paying for the delivery. But TBH if Takealot added a function for this I'd probably do the same as I do on Sixty60 and add something small (R20) but def wouldn't be handing over cash when they deliver - it would have to be via the app.

On Uber eats you can specify your own tip amount, so i do tip where i can, usually R5.

On sixty60, the minimum tip is R10, so i dont always do it, but it if I have a big order, it try to tip.

Any other deliveries, like Takealot etc, there is no option to tip as part of the delivery, so i don't. I dont keep a lot of cash or coins - so unless i have the option of adding to my order, i generally wont

I used to give R10 but not anymore.

I noticed that certain takeaways (Pizza hut, Pizza baby, Seattle coffee) have glass jars next to cashiers these days, filled with R50, R20 notes. Looks like we will have American culture soon.

At nearby Spar, helpers are forbidden to take tips unless it is signed off by manager. And managers note it down somewhere. I suspect it is to stop fraud from happening. (e.g. give tip and sneak some items ?)

Only time I "tip" is when the wife orders food using my CC card. Delivery guys usually thanks me after I pick up the food for the tip. 😒

Is this a precaution so that they don't "modify" your food next time around? :cautious:
not sure about now but in the early years of Uber eats I knew of this lady that was delivering food in the evenings to make ends meet, she would often take her kid along and they would both snack in small amounts from every meal and sip from the drinks as well. She said that many other do it too🤣

I've noticed that the food comes more securely packaged these days though, maybe it's no longer happening!!

We live in a free standing house, if I open the gate and you make me come to the gate to collect then no, if you do decide to drive in and drop off at the door then yes.

Nope, i collect; that way i don't have to wait all day for 16:55. If the item is too bulky for collection, then i don't tip either.

when i was studying after matric - i delivered pizza at night - some people would tip and others wouldnt , i made a list on my phone of the non tippers and if i had multiple deliveries those people got theirs last .

i would also steal a few topping off theirs

Only our Amazon guy. Its always the same guy. He puts the big 25kg dogfood in garage.
Always give him a can of cooldrink when I'm at home.

Lack of integrity this ^. Did your parents teach you to behave this way?

I don't use the online tip system, just in case there is something wrong with my order (which happens about 50% of the time). Rather, I wait until they complete the delivery and then give them cash (usually 10% rounded up).
