Takealot "Guaranteed Express" delivery useless!!!

I don't understand why you would buy online, no stock /no delivery.. I just go into a shop, buy what I want and take it home with me.. I also get to touch / feel / try it on / check for quality and size.. So much better, but that's just my opinion.

i get stuff from takealot because i have ebucks. otherwise, i agree with you regarding it not really being worth it. you can often find the same stuff cheaper elsewhere and with better delivery as you pointed out.

I'd love to know the proportion of takealot's income that comes from ebucks. Would be very interesting.
Amazon needs to partner up with eBucks.

I understand why you would buy online, see stock availability /to your house or work delivery.. I just go into a website, buy what I want and wait for it to be delivered.. I also get to read the description and if there are any issues I get to return the item without me having to drive to 1 of their locations. I can also get stuff that normal brick and mortar stores don't stock. Soo much better, but that's just my opinion.
Agreed

Curious what people still buy on Takealot?

I keep trying but every time they suck at actually having stock of what I'm looking for. I'm not sure what they put in their warehouses but it isn't the basics.

For me Makro and Builders have been surprising on the upside for the past couple years. Delivery almost always next day -- faster than promised.

I now pretty much have a regular monthly Makro order that exceeds my annual Takealot spend.
Supplements and certain gadgets/ whatnots. Just easier to get the delivered to the office so it can be dropped off at reception so I don't wait all day or the next.

Clearly you do not stay in the middle of the Free State? Good luck with that.

vote with your wallet. I ordered a TV on Amazon at 11. It arrived at my house at 3. R10 for same day delivery

Impressive. Sometimes you just gotta have a new TV right now, and Amazon is not going to stop you.

Not going to work for me though as I don't have a license.

This was a reasonable argument about 20 years ago. Times have changed. There may be marginal cases where a touch and feel is the whole point, but I don't really give a sh*t what my bag of dog food feels like honestly. Same with almost everything else I buy.

Actually you could say if I have to touch or feel it to know if I want it then I don't buy those things.

so 1st time i placed an order on amazon

they offered same day delivery at R10 extra but i ordered sunday morning and wasnt going to be home

so left it at next day delivery, 12pm on monday the order was delivered

i was impressed

It was a special. R4k cheaper than takealot. And I just used someones ID.

Since ordering from Amazon SA I will never order from Takealot again unless I absolutely have no choice.
Quick free deliveries on most items (for now) :p

How can TA charge people for collecting their own orders? It's ridiculous. Go to hell.

We will all pay for what Amazon is doing now, eventually. In more ways than one.

On the collection fees I agree that they are taking a chance there, but there is still a fixed cost for them in terms of packaging no matter if its delivered or collection and I guess they are trying to shift the cost to those that use it and only subsidising it for larger orders. But that argument falls flat if they do not allow you to collect for free from their main warehouses for wholly in-stock items in those warehouses. Their setup has become a bit more fragmented with our local collection point moving away from the storage cache (there is now a mini warehouse inbetween the collection point and the main warehouse) making things a bit more complicated.

Takealot did the same many years back. They only slacked down to make room for a subscription service. A subscription service that is not sustainable in my opinion.

They are probably playing the numbers game and hope that the majority won't go crazy with too many deliveries.

That failed for Checkers since I ordered twice a week for R99 a month. Luckily for them I'm forced to shop at crappy PNP with ebucks.

Actually, I just bought shoes from. Barestep. Co. Za size 42 x w pairs for the price of one.. Well the black pair was too Small so I sent it back at my expense.. Now they are arguing that I damaged them.. Trouble trouble trouble.

Yo yo yo, then for you, better to not order online.

I ordered "stuff" online from 3 different stores this week, 1 being Bidorbuy and another being a pre order from TA.
No issues so far.

I suggest I keep using online and you must stay far away from online shopping else something like this might repeat itself.

Takealot is full of ****!!

I ordered a cheap toothbrush from Amazon cz free delivery and the neighbours are starting to think I'm extremely rich from all these deliveries from THE COURIER GUY but they don't know I'm ordering all cheap **** 😎

I already see the neighbourhood females looking at me all seductively

Maybe it's because you now have clean teeth?

I've been using TakealotMore under the impression that it would speed up delivery for in-stock items(amongst other services 'perks'). I called in about a parcel. I ordered an item that was in stock at the Cape Town warehouse (I purchased the last unit). Strangely, it's now sitting in Port Elizabeth.

I understand that George is considered a satellite site, fair enough. But based on the route, deliveries pass through George on the way to PE. Yet, according to the TA support team, the process is this: they transport the item all the way to PE first, complete that region’s deliveries, and only then allocate items for George the following day.

This seems inefficient and counterintuitive, especially for TakealotMore customers expecting expedited service. Hah, what a fool I am.

I bought the item on the 29th around 10:50am (Let's say 11AM), that item only started moving the next day at 3PM(24H+ hours of nothing happening), on the 30th. The next update was on the 31st, when it stopped in Port Elizabeth. I got an sms stating it will be delivered on Friday the 1st of August.

CPT->GRJ, 3 business days - What a joke!

I knew I should've used Amazon, but no; I thought the monthly subscription would speed up the process. Time I support Amazon locally a bit more.

Haven't learned my lesson with using Takealot it seems.

Got a deal on a Defy 18000 BTU inverter AC for R9500 at Takealot. Stock at the local warehouse.
Processed the purchase but did t want delivery the very next day because I wouldn't be at home, so I opted for "Guaranteed Saturday Delivery".
Friday hits and I get a message saying that my order will be delivered on Saturday.
Then at 3pm, I get another text, my order will now be delivered on Monday.

Thinking what the hell, I phone them and they don't know what's happening so they log a query with their team.

Saturday hits and no info. So I phone again, no info. 3 hours pass and I phone again. Lady this time says its a common problem with their Richmond Park location, they can never reach the team there, managers don't answer their calls or emails, but says if nothing happens in an hour, I must call again.

2 hours pass and I phone again. Lady this time says "oh, Richmond Park doesn't actually do Saturday deliveries".
