If you do tip, they always expect a tip. If you do not tip, chances are they will damage your vehicle
However, their normal behaviour is to expect a tip when they do more than fuel up, like cleaning windscreen, pump tyres etc

Yes, sometimes...depends...R2, R5, R10...tough to give a specific amount

Yes definitely, they earn minimum wage and I I earn more so why not?

R5 if they at least offer to check the tyres/oil/washer bottle/etc.

I barely ever have cash with me, but when I do I will tip attendants if they do something more than just fill up the tank.
Sometimes I'll share snacks from my lunchbox.

absolutely yes! They provide a service, much like a waiter or waitress, it is not a cushy job, they are outside most of the day, in heat, cold or rain. occasionally, one will point out if a tyre is low on pressure, and if it were not for them, we would have been stranded once or twice on long trips. it's a thankless job, but a valuable service, so tip them to show appreciation. average is R10.00, that I tip.

Do you tip petrol attendants, and if so, how much?
Yes, I do most of the time if I have cash on me anything between R5 and R20. Petrol Attendants works long hours and to be honest (I speak to a lot of them) they dont earn big salaries, some of them get minimum wage and I wonder how they make it through a month on those small salaries. In some cases, garage owners also dont treat them right either, e.g. not paying them their full overtime, etc.

Once in a while if I see the guy really make an effort to attend to me.
Anything from R5 to R20 , if it’s there in the car.

Always. Depends on the amount I put in but never less than R10 if I'm only putting in R100 or R200. I f I fill up, its R20 to R40 - these guys sit shifts of 12 hours, often at night.
Their hours should be within what is mandated by law. People work in supermarkets until well into the evening. Various shop assistants work Sundays. Do you tip all these people?

At my local garage, they wash all the windows even if I only put R200 in. I tip them R10, same as car guards at the mall, so long as they push the trolley and pack away the grocers. They are usually able to break a 50 if I haven't got change.
Do you tip the people inside the supermarket? Like the ones who packed those bags of groceries.

If only filing up depends on my mood and time of day - late night always cause it sucks to be at work. No R5 coins though, I collect these
