eBucks pays for my dog's kibble and bravecto. So he uses eBucks.

I'm on 27500 points for e-bucks and have been for the past 3 years, so comfortably on level 5 (Private Wealth account).
I earn on average between R2500 and R3500 per month in e-bucks through just doing the normal banking.
I save all my e-bucks and use that once a year to buy luxuries i.e. new iphone, or ipad and other stuff from Takealot.

I login to Discovery bank I see my bank balance. With FNB I first get a scam FUD popup I have to close and then Just for you! offers. Vastly different experience.
 I just opened my FNB app on phone, did biometric and the first thing I see is the Home screen showing me my accounts and their balances. Thank you, @FNB listened

Yes but its almost not worth it anymore. I don't want to use their insurance, savings and loans.

on the fence about it, nice to get something back, even if its not as much as it used to be,
and nice to use when you want a treat and use it to get something nice from takealot/mrD things like that.

at the end of the day, its still a rewards program, idea behind it is to reward people for using them,
almost like those casino rewards you might get if you sign up to MVG or Tsogo sun

yes, if you gamble a lot, you see some value, but if like me you go there once in a blue moon,
not so much, but you do score free parking

I think thats the best way to think of it, I think the Yanks call it "Comps"
if you use it a lot, like some private wealth people here who are Hedge fund billionaires and fly in the air like David Blaine,
then, yes it makes sense to them,

to mere mortals like myself, that only spends as much as I need to, you get your 0.60C and say thanks I guess.
better than nothing.

Discovery's reward program is really much worse when it comes to forcing you to use their products in order to benefit.

There is a pretty simple algorithm that will allow you to get to level 5 with absolute minimal effort. I don't have any FNB insurance products, have no loans expect for a bond and no strange investments except for my TFSA and emergency savings fund (which everyone should really have equal to 3 month's salary). I do have an overseas FNB bank account that I use to hedge against the ZAR/USD exchange rate which costs me nothing but earns quite a bit of points when you maintain the minimum balance in the account.
I have always bought from Checkers and Clicks so benefiting from 15% back on grocery/household goods spend required no change in where I buy goods, the same applies to filling up at Engen. My wife has her own bank account but for budgeting purposes I transfer our monthly household spend budget to my FNB credit card account and we each have a virtual credit card linked to this account so our combined household spend is factored in for E-bucks rewards calculations.
I just checked my May and June rewards and I have earned more than R4500 in E-bucks in each of May and June. My phone is 6 years old (I'm a stingy chartered accountant and I refuse to take out a cell phone contract) and I'm saving my rewards to hopefully be able to buy a new phone at the end of the year. Next year I will do the same and use that to buy my wife a new phone.

If you are willing to apply your mind a little bit, it is absolutely money for jam.

I do, but since my phone doesn't support NFC I'm losing quite a bit even on L5. I don't want to upgrade my phone just because of a rewards program, but it should technically pay for itself after a couple of months.
