yes I do as it is the only way you can get cheap stuff from E-bay :-(, but the service is almost non-existent!

I used SAPO until recently but I have found Aramex Global Shopper international package delivery. Aramex you have to watch like a hawk since I have found that the weight on at least one package was incorrect that made a difference of R700 on the shipping fees. Its been a month that I'm trying to rectify this problem with Aramex, so far with no success. I have lost 5 packages with SAPO coming from China and quite a few (+-10) was delivered almost a year after ordering. I do use them for services like getting my car licence if their printers are working.

Sometimes. Nothing has ever gone missing. Also recently sent something worth a couple thousand bucks to NY via the post office (because shipping was the cheapest) and it reached its destination in mint condition

Yes, only out of necessity for items where courier services are not offered.
And vehicle licenses.

Do you use the SA Post Office for local or international package delivery? If so, what is your experience?
Local packages. My experience has been great. The cost is reasonable and the delivery time is good.

No, lost a couple of items shipped from outside SA.

Never ever, never ever.... When I buy stuff it is intended for me to use - not for a donation to some unknown employee. Door to door delivery. If a company does not have that then it looses my business. Quite simple, I think.

When I have to and only for cheap things. 90% of orders do arrive but only between 2.5 and 4 months later.

Had a cellphone from China stolen (box was opened). Called Mark Barnes on his cell and complained and submitted a complaint to the Regulator and 18 months later they paid me what I had lost.

Yes I do only for paper items.
Had some stolen when delivered at my house. We caught them red handed and postman got fired. PO then gave me a PO. Box.

Only Parts from China and UK using International tracked and signed for. Delivery to SA Customs 7 Days. Waiting for SA post 4 weeks+

yes I do. Still the cheapest way to send a birthday card or small gift to family overseas. Never had a problem with stuff disappearing.

I have ordered many items from websites like Banggood, Gearbest and eBay with their basically free "60-day" international shipping option (including two phones and an action camera). This shipping method, as far as I know, makes use of some international mailing system until it gets to the beloved South African post office where everything slows down. Mostly actually received my packages (at least all the expensive stuff, maybe one cheap thing never came - but then again maybe they sent it back to the sender who never gave me a refund).
Usually, the package is in SA within less than a month according to the tracking info, but it takes the post office and customs FOREVER (two months plus) to get it to me. Here's the thing: because the letter to come and get my package from the post office arrives most of the time around 100 days after purchase, it hurts the Chinese who are exporting because I have twice asked for and got a refund before receiving the item (after the 60-day mark) on items valued around R2500. When I received the item I paid them back the refund they gave me, but not all people will do that.
A quick tip: I think there is some sort of limit on the number of "gifts" (as the Chinese label their exports) an individual can receive in a year, so just use your family member's names who can then collect your items with their ID's!

Not if I can help it. Sadly Unisa and Wish.com seem to find a way of dragging SAPO into my life.

Ive used them previously for China items but then greed set in and they started charging R25 for international parcels...and i didnt receive a few.... i cant even use them to get a fishing licence as there are always none left.... they make copies of a copy of an original....the PO system is failing to such an extent that they closed the one close to us because they couldnt pay their bills

Yes, I use them to receive international parcels. Last year I had 50% delivered, however, this year its been 100%. They seem to be doing something right. Also use the for licence renewals.
