Does anyone else no longer enjoy gaming?

Stop playing sandbox ****.

Play something with a defined beginning and end that doesn't take 500 hours to complete and you'll have a much better time of it.
 
Iv been out if games about 3 years.... partly due to this ... partly due to my 2 daughters being born...all games are repetitive and boring. Clocked 100% in fallout 3 on ps3, fall out 4 had to force my self to finish.

Tried ps4 a few times.


Hoping by dec the Switch will have a few good games... and il try that again.
 
Gave up on most games years ago. I did however try Bioshock. But now I just play Trackmania.
 
Waiting for Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 6 and the next Far Cry ...If they don't mess it up like they did with Primal.

Other than that there's nothing I look forward to. I play Abit of WoW (girlfriend forced me to play it a month or so ago) but I'd much rather code something or read.

it seems games are catering to the adhd generation, rush rush rush repeat.

I blame that nintendo guy for saying games are getting too difficult and complicated and they started toning them down, others followed.
 
Haven't played anything after The Witcher 3. Got loads of originals I haven't even touched yet. Don't have the time and really can't be bothered.....oh nooooes. Whats wrong with me :(
 
I rarely play games anymore I play one dota match maybe once a quarter used to play days straight.

Just find there's other stuff to focus your time on instead as games don't really offer much upskill possibilities.
 
These days I do get board easily with games. Its all just the same to me. See 1 see them all, iets like the developers are using a recipe and only adding some graphics and different assets each time.

This. Lots of high-budget games nowadays are derivative trash and just pretty much reskins of old stuff. I myself went almost a year without buying any new games waiting for Nioh to come out.

Man was it worth it. These days I find myself gravitating to more obscure Japanese games. One of the main reasons I got a PS4.

Also go got tired of this "open word" fetish Western developers have nowadays. Damn it not everything has to be bloody open world. "Open world" really means confined to a single area for the entire game, which ironically can limit possible experiences. There's pretty much nothing to do in like 50-90% of the area as well. Or it's filled with pointless BS that most people won't waste their time doing.

I mostly play now because I have nothing better to do. Sure, there are some days where I just feel like gaming, but for the most part I game to pass the time.

I wouldn't call it growing up and honestly it irritates me when people associate gaming with being ''immature'', but as with many things, it could just be something that you eventually get out of your system or it gets replaced by a new interest or hobby. My best mate was a serious gamer, then he got in to craft beer, sold his rig and now focuses on making his beers.
 
I take a break for a year os so and then when I have the time I go through my steam sale purchases that have been sitting on my drive, the bonus of PC gaming is that I can still enjoy games that are nearly a decade old as if they're new.
 
I have been feeling same for a few years now. Due to limited time these days I'm way more picky about what games I play and spend time on.

Last games I really enjoyed was, RE7(Currently), Inside, Ori And The Blind Forest

Beyond that I lost interest in Deus Ex Mankind Divided, The Witcher 3 etc.
 
I use to love gaming, but the past 3 months I've just not felt the gaming anymore. Just feel more and more disconnected overall.
 
The problem for me is not that I no longer enjoy gaming, it's that games have become way too long. With so many great games out, I just don't have the time to dedicate 50+ hours to one game.

I would be fine if they wrap up the main story in around 25 hours, and release the rest of it as DLC. At least then I can decide whether I'd like to carry on playing or not. Obviously this would have to go hand in hand with a price cut for the main game...

That is my favourite game ever. I think I'm going to try Baldur's Gate from one to current.

I also cut down on my gaming time. Actually, since I did my gap year after Matric, I kicked the addiction by not having a PC for a few months.
During varsity I gamed a fair amount again but not to the same extent.
I think part of it is your time becoming more valuable and you having access to more other options and interests.
In my younger years, I was subject to the finances of my parents. These days I can afford everything I reasonably want to do and so I do, but I also have very limited time during which to enjoy my hobbies, so computers take a bit of a back seat.
 
I stopped enjoying modern gaming, I might find a single new game a year that interests me and the last one was Doom 4

I just dont enjoy modern games as much anymore, in its place I found a new passion in retro gaming, or to put it more bluntly collecting retro games, the process of going to flea markets and charity shops to find old gems, building a community and making new friends that love the hobby as well.

Nothing beats building a old Pentium 2 just to play half life 1 on a Voodoo 3 you picked up for a bargain, or finding a complete big box pc game at a charity shop that you use to own growing up and the world has forgotten by now.

In a way, that's exactly what they do. Many developers use the same game engines, since they're massively expensive to develop. The result is that many games feel very similar.

I need to try Pillars of Eternity again. Clocked a few hours on it and enjoyed it, but then got busy, and it's a game with an intricate storyline, so probably need to restart.
 
It's too hot to game in summer so I game less, there's also the dec/easter holidays where I would rather do other things with spare time. Come May it picks up again.
