Does anyone else no longer enjoy gaming?

I should mention, I'm currently playing TV (NES/SNES/SEGA MEGA DRIVE) via Raspberry Pi and 2 controllers.

Playing Baldur's Gate 2 for the first time at the moment. Great game.

...

I also feel like games can't keep my attention anymore, I'll play for 20-30 minutes, then pause and go on my phone doing whatever.

...

And there's your answer.
People who spend too much time on the phone get used to constant rewards. When the mouse doesn't get enough cheesy rewards fast enough it grows bored and doesn't want to play.

I rarely play any narrative based games. I mostly play sims, i.e. FIFA, Cities: Skylines and Sims - which I haven't touched since the last couple of expansion pack of Sims 3. I play GTA every now and then but most of the time I just kill randoms and go on massive police chases.

Where are the days where we would replay a game multiple times just for additional endings or different cutscenes/to find out what would have happened if I did x instead of y. Or playing a game as a stealth character instead of a melee brute this time? I just don't have the motivation to do that or the enjoyment. Maybe it's age, but I remember many games from my teenager years that I would replay the **** out of just because I had more drive to play it and legitimately woke up wanting to play.

I feel the exact same. Miss the days of Generals, Max Payne 1+2 (Replayed like 10 times each probably), Deus Ex 1, SiN, Quake 1-3, Unreal 1, Turok etc. I've started to play Dishonored 1 and 2, playing non-lethal vs lethal has different outcomes in the first and likely more in 2 (apologies if I am mistaken). Recall the story was interesting with 1, but never finished it.

No game interests me anymore but Dota 2 has me by the balls for some reason whether its playing or just watching

The trick is to simply find out what sort of games you really enjoy. For me it's primarily open world games, indie games and Hearthstone. I only venture outside my comfort zone when there are sales and Humble Bundles on. One genre I've learned to stay away from is 1st person shooters - I don't think I've ever enjoyed one (except for Portal 2, which doesn't really count).

Sounds like to me, and I am not a gamer, but all you gamers are longing for the next best thing and that is VR ! Don't get me wrong, games are freakin awesome, when you get the time, and then when you do, you are just too pooped to even bother?

I remember playing "Metal Gear Solid " on playstation - "Silent Hill" and "Tomb Raider" all old school, but damn enjoyable. Now when I want to play games, it will be something like ....."Zuma" or "Candy Crush Jelly" .....WTF even these are freakin boring.

Who agrees???? VR all the way ???:wtf:

I still replay my old or classic adventure games and RPG’s. Arcanum is next on my menu, it will be like the 5th time, then LBA 1 and 2. The only modern game that I play is CSGO, the only other two modern titles that I have touched was The Witcher 3 which is still to be 100% completed and Fallout 4 which is mostly done.

I was in this situation for approx a year and Killing Floor 2 brought me out of it.

Yes I guess it's bec they just rehash the same games all the time. Gears of war is like on 5 and same with halo. Cod I don't even know what number that's on!!! Nothing new to excite u

Played Witcher 3 a few months ago, it spoiled almost everything else for me.
Find myself always going back to the same games. ksp, dwarf fortress, and sometimes diablo 3 when i just want the time to go by.

With all the DLC I hope. Witcher 3 is probably my favourite game of all time, especially with mods.

I also find lately the older games are a lot more entertaining.
We are spoiled for choice with Steam/Origin etc.

Same - games rarely have depth.. and too much cookie-cutter mechanics / console-ified open world junk.
Next for me would be improved AI which actually impacts the game, and VR.

I won't play older games either - technology has moved on - even though Fallout 2 was amazing at the time, the experience is a waste of time today.

The feeling is mutual unfortunately.

I think it's because a lot of games are just much of the same, put together slightly different every time.

Yep, I was hardcore gamer back in the day but now can't even play an hour a week, just doesn't bite me anymore..

I've noticed that I go through "gaming cycles" where I don't play anything for 2-3 months then suddenly get an urge for a specific game that I then play for a week or two. As I've grown older the cylces have become further apart and the draw of the game has become less enticing. (Except Bloodborne, that game has infected my mind).
