Meeting someone for the first time tomorrow. Need ideas on how the keep the conversation alive, those awkward silence moment I dunno how to handle too well.
Well you're not paying her to talk so I'm not sure why you're worried about this. But:
I never allow it to reach the awkward silence moment. There's always a question you can ask to anything. Why, how, when, who etc. So tell me more about <X> (not ex). How did you get involved in that? That sounds interesting. Oh you must have a few stories about that (whatever "that" might be). Just talk you lil pansy! You're never short of a quirp on here. I love a good talkative woman. Those quiet types I usually ditch pretty quickly though - I am far from shy and quiet.
However, if you really do struggle with it then find a few good jokes and memorize them for those awkward silence moments. Make her laugh before it hits awkward silence stage. Think of a few generic questions and how you can adapt them to make them sound less "planned" and can be used for just about anything. But try find the balance between conversation and questions. Have an opinion - don't be afraid to voice it unless of course you're telling her how you feel prostitution in SA should be legalized. It aint tough. I love first dates - a chance to learn about somebody else. I view them as an opportunity to learn about someone else which I suppose helps to stimulate the conversation. It helps if she's hot though...
Oh, and take a dome!
