I have been approached by Amazon to apply for an SDE role. I am curious if anyone knows of someone who works there as an SDE and what they earn. I have gone through the Amazon website and its levels and structure but it would be nice to have actual info.

From what I’ve gathered, it’s a lot more than the SA average, but it is scaled for SA labour costs, so don’t expect anything close to what you see on levels.fyi.

Another data point:
An SA recruiter contacted me about 5 years back and told me they could offer R1m/y as a dev and R1.2/y as a manager. They weren’t specific about what levels though (my guess is this wasn’t Principal), although from my LinkedIn it’s clear that I have a lot of experience. After 5 years, I would imagine it’s up quite a bit.
About 3 years ago, a US recruiter I spoke to thought I would come in at the Senior Principal level, which was $800k/y or so.
