Does anyone still use LinkedIn?

I've never used the Linkedin thing, same as Twitter.
Fail to understand what the fuss is all about.
I've had it, saw the idiocy, saw what some people I know posted.

Then I sat down a bit, thought about it, you know, whirled it around in the old noodle.

Then I deactivated my account after my own internal processes came to the conclusion that it's a total sham.

You mean among all the crypto evangelists, AI enthusiasts and part time dog daddies? Must be quite a mission impossible.
Don’t get me wrong - the posts and videos there are largely complete garbage, but in terms of keeping a public resume, and gathering intel and access to other companies, it’s invaluable.

Yup. I’ve secured every job since 2018 through LinkedIn. My role in 2013 was actually through these very forums that got me into my current career. Since then I have used LinkedIn. My current role in London is because of LinkedIn.

I don’t treat it as a social media. I don’t browse people’s posts on there.

I only created account last year when I got retrenched, luckily I got new job very quickly (not via linkedin).
After that I sort of limited access to it and went on it occasionally just to follow few programming and standards groups with opinion that it became some sort of social network of no real use and not much linked to work.

Couple months ago I got contacted about post which I did not like but one yesterday was actually interesting one.
Quite interesting work however it is onsite and significantly further away.
What irks me is that in both instances they are offering "market" related compensation and when you ask what is the band you always get response what is your expectation.
Anyway thanked them for contacting me but sort of be upfront with compensation so people do not waste time especially if you are headhunting people.
