does Telkom throttle lines ???

I am definitely experiencing throttling on my 4mb line a during office hours I as during this time I can barely achieve 0.7mb speeds no matter which ISP (shaped or unshaped) I use. My modem syncs fine at 4096/512 and my SNR and line attenuation values are excellent. After hours and weekends I get my full line speed. I have had this problem since Easter.

Please provide evidence. As far as I know they do not throttle the customer's link to the DSLAM, but congestion from the DSLAM to the ESR is where customers might sometimes experience degraded speeds. That's not intentional shaping, so your "Yes" needs to be substantiated with some proof please...

Correct

Yes
Since normal ADSL G.DMT Synchs at I think 8Mb/s and the max you can get is 4 Technically they do throttle your speed.

Otherwise unless they are your ISP of choice no, They do not throttle your speed but your DSLAM may be over contested as mentioned or your ISP might have a high contention ratio.

Technically not. The only issues are contention ratios and the condition of the network. There is no throttling.

Amen to DSLAM congestion, we are getting it hard now, and Telkom does not even care a bit. :)
My thread created today is exactly this issue...
