Dog poisoning

Dogs are mostly poisoned by criminals paving the way for a break in at a later stage.
Be careful and vigilant.

Sorry to hear that your dogs have been poisoned.

We have a neighbor with one very noisy dog at times, we chatted to them and the problem is mostly solved.
As the fly boys say............"your attitude will determine your altitude"

Peace

Does your dog bark and disturb your neighbours peace?

There is nothing more irritating than a dog barking randomly throughout the day and night.

You are exactly what is wrong with this country.
1) Take the law into your own hands.
2) Commit a crime for your own comfort
3) Show cruelty to poor defenceless animals.
4) I hope you get what is coming to you.

The reason why people poison dogs is because they are noisy. Don't you get it?

No, the thread is about dogs being poisoned by criminals, as per the linked article, because dogs also function as security, your failure to read the article or comprehend that dogs are also used for security is not our fault. I know its hard to get out of the shackles of your poor education, but do try to break free of them...

Dogs have less value than people.

Its not like they will open a case on a rubbed out dog.

Really? Have you ever warned me while a criminal was trying to enter my yard? The dogs have, you haven't, so clearly, as the other guy said, you have less value than dogs.

Also, no dog has ever tried to enter my yard to take my possessions or hurt me and my loved ones, the conclusion being that dogs have more value to society than those types of people.

The thing is some people just shouldn't be even allowed to own dogs. They love dogs but they lack common sense and regard for other people.Your love of dogs shouldn't affect the lifestyle of your neighbours. We had a neighbour that used to walk his exceptionally aggressive pitbull without a leash, one day it almost killed our cat and when I tried to pull the cat away his dog tried to attack me in my own yard. Fortunately I motioned to attack it too so it hesitated and the owner was able to grab it.When I tried telling the guy put it on a leash the idiot told me he knows what he is doing.

What do you guys suggest in a situation like that?I didn't poison his dog but really would you blame somebody if in a situation like that they threw some poisoned food over his fence?

Did you report it to the SPCA? I wonder if you could file some kind of assault charge with the police, these days the police are treating dogs more and more like an extension of the owner. I have even read reports recently that owners can be charged with culpable homicide when their dogs kill someone.

Pit bulls should be banned and exterminated, every single last one of them. I like dogs, but personally all in favour of Pit Bull's extinction. I'll leave it at that.

I agree as the main purpose for them was fighting.

As well as you try you can't take the fight out of them same with Jack Russell's who love hunting.

Interesting,I think that's a good thing.People who don't keep their dangerous dogs fenced of properly on their own property or on a leash in full control when walking them should be held fully responsible if the dog harms somebody.

Oh and no I didn't report it,didn't know there was anything that could be done about it,this was maybe 15 years back.

When that dog rushed me I could see it in its eyes that it wanted to KILL me!

Luckily I was a teenager at the time and an avid Gymer so I was raging back at the dog and even rushed at it,even though in the back of my mind I was looking for something to arm myself with because unarmed as I was I knew I would lose.Lol I think that's what saved me because it made the dog hesitate for that minute,if I showed it any fear I might not have been here today!

Pitbulls are something else.Cant be compared to other dogs.:wtf:

I think you need to spend some time with decently raised PitBulls then...

They're amazing creatures when raised in a proper loving family.

I have a Bull Terrier, and they are also used for fighting and in that scenario are ridiculously aggressive. Mine is a rescue from an area known for breeding fighting dogs. He is now the most placid and loving creature ever, with a huge loveable naughty streak.

Yeah many people have said that about their pitbulls, until they one day snapped and turned on them.

Bull terriers not so much.

Well I can tell both sides of that story.
My friend has 2 beautiful pitts.
They are incredibly loving to his toddler and allow him to kiss them, hit them, etc.
The standard things toddlers do.

But he is the first to admit that there is no way he would allow the one out as she will maul any other dogs she can come near to.
My 2 dogs play quite loudly but never harm each other or cause any bites.
His pitts play fight but the one that is 'dangerous' actually harms the other girl.
So much so that when my friend is at my place and my dogs start to become loud when they play he jumps in to stop my rottie because he thinks it's biting the other dog.
I had to explain to him that dogs are all very different and pitt behavior is not the same as many other dogs.

I've heard the "It's their owners and upbringing" argument, which leads me to this: If you look at the fatality statistics, you yourself will have to conclude one of two things, either a Pit Bull is inherently a killing machine, or Pit Bull owners top the worldwide statistics for worst dog owners ever.

I've just read and heard of enough unprovoked attacks even on toddlers and little children which lead to death for my mind to ever be swayed.

I would completely agree that in general the owners are the worst kind, since they are generally bought for the purpose of fighting, or because they're big and scary and then raised accordingly.

But to rubbish the breed outright is not on in my opinion, since they are an amazing breed when raised correctly.

I am also very wary of the breed in general when I come into contact with them, but I treat each dog as an individual case and when I can see that the dog is not aggressive I relax around them.

I disagree. Pit Bull can be the friendliest of dogs if raised and trained right. The type of people in the example given are they type of people who want their pit bulls to match their "macho" man image. More than often they are pricks and their dogs take on there persona because they are encouraged to be aggressive. On the other hand you get owners of pit bulls who don't do that and they end up with a loving gentle dog. I know many pit bulls who are as gentle as anything.

My dog was poisoned this weekend, luckily me and my nephew noticed that she was vomiting and had diarrhoea. Since I don't have a car I couldn't take her to the vet so I forced her to drink milk and within a couple of hours she was ok. There have been attempts to steal my dog and I think after they failed they wanted to kill her. But she's a strong Jack Russell...
