Domain purchase

Hi Guys,

This is my first time buying a domain and would like some help.
I'm hosting my API & website on AWS & want to use Google apps for business(gmail) with my domain.

Can I just purchase a domain from Hetzner/Afrihost/EliteHost? Will they give me a cpanel to point my domain to AWS and configure mail?

Or do I have to take out hosting with them as well?

This will differ from host to host, so I'd suggest asking whoever you'd like to register with whether they include DNS management with their domain registrations. Most of them do though, so it shouldn't be necessary to purchase a hosting package too.

Oh, and if you're registering a co.za, steer clear of Afrihost. R197 is madness.

As chopsky mentioned - most (if not all) providers will provide free DNS hosting with your domain. Simply adjust the DNS records as needed and point to AWS / Google and you'll be good to go.

For ZA domains I make use of domains.co.za @ R75 per year for a co.za domain. I've got 50 or so domains with them and i've not had any issues.
