I am ignorant on IT matters, as you well know ;)

Is this a reasonabe quote?


1. The .com Web Registration (name creation + e-mail addresses setting for 3 x people) - R 250.00

2. Annual Basic Web Hosting - R 1,800.00

Depending on the type of web hosting it might be . . . or it might not be.

What were your requirements?

Local hosting or international?

Basically what did they say you would be getting for that R1800 p/a?

... bear in mind "*.com"s are expensive. Why not "*.co.za" ?

texo charges R20 for registering .co.za

and R50 a month for hosting


i think thats about right

Nope you can have any dot something but it depends on where the location is of the host server :) BW is pretty expensive in SA :p

The R 1800 sounds damn expensive tbh. About R 50 a month sounds about right for a desent hosting package excluding registration.
 
Search for a user on myBB with the name of RavenServers - 35 bucks a month for hosting.
 
Serv is also cheap, I think we paying R29 a month for 1gb storage, 12.5gb transfer and upto 10 domains.
 
Orko is also pretty good, R15 per month, with unlimited storage - but only 5GB Transfer per month.:(

Why do woman always get all the nice free stuff ? You would never have offered that to any of us you bastard :D
 
The .com domain name registration is certainly a rip off, but one cannot assume the hosting fee is unfair until actual stats are given - local hosting fees can also easily add up to that yearly figure for instance.

Well looking at the high cost of the domain name registration it would seem they have high prices, the hosting was also listed as "basic" ;)
