Dongle data vanishing

My dad uses a cellc dongle at home. Beginning of this month it topped up 5gig and within a few hours it was all gone. So he bought another 5gig and after checking emails on his laptop he said it too vanished after 1 hour. He has a laptop and mobile phone which access the device at home.

How can I find out where all his data is going? This issues is not new.and has been ongoing for months now. Is there any way to monitor what is doing this?

Me too but whenever I go to his house and sit there watching the data, it somehow knows I'm there and behaves. Moment I step out the door the goblins come out to wreak havoc. It's getting highly annoying now.

Is this Windows 10?
If so be sure to configure the connection as a metered network. This alone will drastically reduce data usage.

Windows 10 doing it's thing when system not active

Going there tomorrow evening. I'll let you guys know what the culprit is but it seems like it may be windows 10. Just this year there have been 2 major version upgrades each something like 8 gigs worth iirc.
