Meh people have been pushing for ranked for as long as I've been playing dota. Groups get set up, people arrange events where we search in unison. Nothing sticks. I'll believe it when I see it. I hope it happens though. Would be great to have all the tryhards go there so I can play my scrub Timber in peace.

You hear that meta-pickers?!? I see one more Phoenix/Earth Spirit game and I'll drive you into the sea! :p

So, a couple of days ago I created a reddit thread (https://goo.gl/r5LbIf), trying to see if we could get Valve's involved in helping SA onto the ranked train. I knew getting Valve involved was unrealistic, but what I was hoping to do is one of 2 things. 1) Valve actually did help by some miracle, or 2) Start getting some awareness, around the topic, and see if we can get some responses. This lead to a fellow South African redditor and Dota player creating this site

At the time of this post, we have had > 550 sign up is less than 48 hours of the site being active.

Is this actually going to work? That remains to be seen. But honestly, what is the harm in trying? If the whole idea of ranked in SA falls on its face again, so be it. I would like to think though that so far, this has been the best effort yet that has made the most progress. In the last 2 nights I have managed to find 4 ranked games, always in less than 5 minutes.

If you guys are keen to get onto the ranked hype train, check out that link, and please also spread the work to your mates. The only way we can get something like this to work is word of mouth.

I remember reading somewhere awhile back that when Dota 2 was initial released, there was no SA servers to speak of, so everyone was forced to play on the EU servers. Back then SA peeps that wanted to play Ranked played it on EU, 180ms vs 30ms is doable

But once the SA servers came online, ranked slowly but surely started dropping off because most SA peeps just wanted a fun time pub stomping.

However since then the SA Dota 2 community has grown significantly, so would imagine the Ranked revival would in fact be successful this time around.

I certainly hope ranked picks up. I also appreciate all the effort guys like scruff are going to to try and get the community onto those ranked games. Here's hoping.

Thanks. I appreciate the kind words. But I am only one man, so all the effort I put in means nothing if I can't get people to spread the word.

If the guys that are still playing some Dota are willing to add the #OSR, spread the link to the their mates, and from the mentioned date only search ranked... We might be able to make this a thing.

You are more than welcome to. Over the last two nights I have been able to find 4 ranked games. Just there might not be enough people at the moment searching for a ranked game to allow you to find a match. Depending on hidden MMR.

We are hoping that after 19th April, this will change.

I played a ranked EU match yesterday...and won.

Gawd...the skill difference between EU and SA players is like day and night.
