Yeah last night I tried to search for my first ranked battle, I thought at about 6pm it would be pretty easy but after 85mins I gave up.

I play in the High-Very high bracket (which may be the problem) but according to chat there may have been some funny server things happening.

I will try again next weekend hopefully with more positive results.

Ranked and pubs are very different, if it was your first attempt at finding ranked it means you have not calibrated your MMR, so your MMR is undetermined.

Finding 9 more players with an undetermined MMR is the reason you couldn't find a match.

Uhm, uncalibrated players get paired with already calibrated players.

High and Very High skilled players will in all likelihood have a tough time finding Ranked SA games due to their very small player pool.

So basically, stop being such tri-hards :p

Played a couple yesterday.

Problem I am seeing is that there is usually only 1 support. Buying wards, courier, up courier, more wards, smoke, dust more wards all from one person. Then big teamfight I am level 5 with no ulti then guys start moaning about me being under leveled, but someone had to run around warding top, mid bottom, stack camps, stack ancients. We ended up wining because our Tiny was FAT AF, but it was very annoying. Three games in a row where I was solo support. Will give it another go this arvie, but if the trend continues I will play division rather.
I never shout at a solo support. My worst is if I'm playing carry and I've mopped the floor with the other team and they go "wp [hero I played]" or whatever. My response is inevitably "not just me mate, dota is a team game, congratulate us all". I can't stand when people who put in effort that doesn't translate directly to their personal KDA numbers not getting recognition.

Very hard to stomp without decent support.

Yeah, I can understand that. With still a rather small pool, it is hard to balance games. I'd like to think that it will get better over time, and the more that people search ranked, the better the experience will get. The main problem is that lots of people will either try search once, have a 15 min waiting period and say "GG ranked sucks" and never try again. Or if the do get a game, and it has a few players well below their skill level, they will just say "GG, not big enough pool, games unbalanced" and give up ranked altogether.

It one those things that for the experience to be good, we all just going to have to push through the bad.

But I am happy to see the improved numbers on Yasp. Things are looking promising. I hope you all have added the #OSR to your names ;)
Haven't added the tag yet. Honestly don't think I'm prepared to search nothing but ranked all the time but I suppose I should add the tag even if I'm not prepared to do that as it encourages others and even if we're searching unranked every now and then it still gets awareness out.

I've seen a ton of #OSR names out there this weekend. Makes me confident.

I'm not calibrated and I was getting paired with and against guys that have already calibrated.

Was all over the place. Guys sitting at sub-2K, then guys at 3-4K, then back to 2.5K. Erratic. I suppose that is why they call it "calibrating".

I've got like 2 more games before I get my MMR. Not looking forward to that as the first like 6 or 7 games I played in ranked I played when I first started dota years ago. I imagine it is going to be brutal, 0.1K tops. :(

When I play solo high-Very High then depending on which friends Normal

As far as I understand it your unranked MMR is separate from your ranked. You should be treated as any other uncalibrated person would be. I play High Skill usually with the occasional Very High or Normal thrown in depending on who I'm grouped with and I was getting players paired with me that were all over the place.

Still I will persist. I am willing to tolerate the erratic pairing while the system stabilises if it means I get a metric to track how I'm doing in dota.

Um, you have 1400 odd games, of that you have played -

Very High Skill - 20
High Skill - 187
Normal - 865
Below normal - 447

Awkward.
There is no Below Normal in dotabuff as far as I'm aware.

When there is no rating it means the skill disparity between the players was too great for the Dotabuff algorithm to estimate a skill bracket for the match. Happens to me a lot as I play with mates just starting out in dota fairly often.

Well there we have it.

Did not know that, thanks.

Damn, and here I was hoping to be below normal.

Back to the drawing board I guess.

The one bonus about being average in Dokta is that you find matches super fast :D

These days I'm mostly in High and it takes me about 5-10min to find an unranked with a 5 stack. Is it honestly quicker at Normal Skill level?

Well my latest games are High-very High so however you look at it I'm at that level.

Haha, oki doki.

Not belittling you, just players like you are the reason I stopped playing dota.

You have 1 or 2 very high skill games and you reckon you can carry when you are placed above your bracket. Very painful spending 60 minutes + watching you try and farm...

Not really sure as I very rarely play with other people, I prefer solo, which always finds a match before 5min mark, it's all relative I guess.

Deadmanza, lets play some games this weekend, I'll show you what a support looks like with brown boots 30 minutes into the game.

14 of the 20 games I'm support. I normally play SD,AR or RD with the occasional AP and pick what the team needs for the lineup.

If everyone jumps on carry I'll support and if everyone jumps on supports I'll carry.

If you are so good why not start an amateur team like most of my VERY HIGH skilled friends are and compete in UCG league win some matches and try get picked up by better teams? Maybe then Dota will be reinvigorated for you.
