I've done a fair amount of botting, and as far as I can see the skill level you choose largely determines your bot team-members skill rather than the opposition.
Ie on Easy bots, you can jungle away and your team will win in 25min, medium they "might" require your help and on hard they certainly do.
Other thing I find irritating about bots is after the laning phase the other team simply hold hands and deathballs around.

The Dota community can be a harsh one. Especially in lower brackets. Also, a lot of people smurf (something I don't get) and then shout at other low level peeps who don't know anything.
It's a tough learning curve, but can be rewarding.
