Here's a thought I've just had about Telkom's per-gig ADSL billing structure;
If I send an email to a friend across the road, Telkom bills me for sending the data down my line, then bills my friend for receiving the data on his end.
If I email my friend in the UK, Telkom only gets to bill me for the data I'm sending down my line.
If I'm not mistaken, this means it costs twice as much to transmit data locally than it does to transmit overseas, alternatively, Telkom get double the revenue for data sent locally than they do for data sent internationally.
.
.
.
Please excuse me. I suddenly feel like lying down on my bed and sobbing quietly into my pillow for an hour or two.
