I have just got the Huawei E180 USB Stick modem as I simply could not get my old one to work under Windows 7 64bit.

The E180 installs and runs just fine, but the download speeds are very poor despite a strong HSDPA signal.

I am getting download speeds (using speedtest.net and downloading various files) of about 150Kb/s and upload speeds of 800K/s. Given that the upload speed is pretty good, I cannot see this being a signal problem. I would hope to get download speeds of at least 2Mb/s.

Anyone experience anything similar, know how to fix it?

Thanks

What was your old modem?
What speeds did you get previously?

Seeing that you are now using Windows 7, it may be worth trying this.

My old modem was an E220, was due for an upgrade anyway so no real hassles there. I was previously getting about 2Mb/s.

Tried the hotfix from the link and suddenly I am getting about 1.2Mb/s. Though not fantastic at least this is manageable. Would love to know what that fix did.

Will try from a different location and see if I get any higher speed.

Thanks

Tried it at home, download 4.05Mb/s :), upload 0.47Mb/s (not too bad).

Thanks for your help...me happy, not sure why the providers can't supply things that work properly out of the box.
