If you want to download movies get ADSL.

Its not blackberry only. I did try both blackberry and internet apn and seems that some days are slow and others are blazing fast.

I downloaded a 50mb file on my blackberry 9720 [for testing] and got like 40kb/s at night. The next day downloading the same file I got 720kb/s download speed on my blackberry.

Put the sim in my iphone and got the same type performance. Slow for a few days and then blazing @ 1.2MB/s download speed. So not sure if its tower or network congestion.

I wonder if Telkom Mobile share international bandwidth with Telkom Internet?

Ohh and btw its hard not to download stuff on your blackberry when the speed you downloading @ is 3 x faster than your adsl connection....... Yeah downloading a 4GB file over BIS with Telkom Mobile is faster than a 4Mbps adsl line. Download speed of 1MB/s over BIS is happening on Telkom Mobile....

I have 8ta and Sim Plonker data packages, before Xmas I could download an 800Mb movie in around 20 mins, now it would take a week, my Internet speed goes up and down like a Whores panties on pay day. Reported on the 14 Jan and heard zip, then I got 4 calls from Telkom last week, the "Technician" pitched on Sat morning 2 hours before his appointment. He told me that most of the surrounding towers were around 98db a pop. I said they have been that way for nearly 2 months. He shrugged his shoulders and said I must wait a week at least. All the maintenance seems to be given out to private subcontractors, as he pitched in a Golf with no markings. Anyone else in Ferndale, Randburg getting the same crappy speeds?

My guess is that it's the difference between EDGE (2.5G) and 3G (e.g. HSDPA).
