Hey guys im new to the pc world after many years of console gaming. is there a certain DP cable that is capable of 144hz or does anyone work? i heard from someone that they only get 120hz on a normal dp cable but 144 on any hdmi cable? any assistance would be appreciated.

Depends on the resolution, your screen and GPU, and what specification each support.

DisplayPort is generally the higher-specced standard, and supports higher refresh rates at higher resolutions.

Some cheap dp cables don't work, or it flickers.

Hdmi cables seems to be all the same.

I am using hdmi cable right now for 144hz on my 2nd display.

I currently have my display on hdmi and it does 144 i want too add another display now and only have dvi and dp available on top of the hdmi. So i just want too know is there a certain dp cable i must get too get 144hz on?

A cable is a cable - there is no such thing as a DisplayPort 1.1 cable or DisplayPort 1.2 cable etc. Any regular DP cable will get you 144Hz, as long as your GPU and display support it... as long as you're not buying the nastiest, cheapest cable from China Town you shouldn't have any issues.

There diffrence on dp cables, some people are having issues.

I had issue mine also with cheap one. Could not set 144hz 1440p.

The DisplayPort standard is not meant to be cable dependent, but as I said - if you buy cheap, you might get a lemon... that's purely down to build quality.
