Cirrosis is what happens to a drinker's liver. Anyone know if she was a drinker. Maybe she developed a taste for Vodka while she was in the Soviet Union.
 
I see that the article mentions autoimmune Hepatitis - sorry folks to dissapoint but it is not caused by beetroot, garlic or Vodka :).

Ahh, Tibby. Was it a white (lilly) liver or a black one? (Most donors are white);)
{I thought I would get the race bit in first for a change}
 
Wonder why it wasnt diagnosed way before liver failure. Could have saved the tax payers a fortune if it was treated earlier.

Pigmentation is caused by melanin producing cells present in your skin, hair and eyes ... the liver does not have them.

So a white or black liver does not exist.

Especially not her (happy to condemn hundreds of thousands others to death.) Oh the irony. An overactive immune system (really must be all that beetroot and garlic.)
 
I just have such a problem with a 70year old woman whose body is going to destroy the liver get the transplant.... Seems v v wrong to me.
 
I agree TB but if that's the norm for whatever medical reason I'll accept it, she should be treated like any other citizen.

So white people are first in the queue if black ministers want a liver from them, but not if they want a job.

the dude on the news just said "there were 20 people on the waiting list for liver trnplant, and she needed it the most of them" ... so nothing sinister about her getting it so quick.........
:confused: :confused: :confused: all this time I thought the waitinglists for all kinds of organs was much longer... shows how little I knew :eek:
but yaa, we can't have an unhealthy minister of health. hopefully she will be better after all this rest.
also heard of quite a few new initiatives planned against aids etc... maybe she should stay off the job, they get more done :)

A girl I know has liver cancer - she needs a transplant and she's been waiting 8 months.

That's all besides the point though, as I recall this was elective surgery, which according to various sources is defined as: "An elective surgery is a planned, non-emergency surgical procedure."

So, she needed it more than 20 other people sitting in the waiting list? I wonder if that's 20 people with her tissue/blood type or 20 people overall?

The surgery was elective, Wing said in a statement issued by the department of health.

This smacks more and more of corruption etc....

I know its harsh but as far as I'm concerned Manto has lived a long enough life, and stuffed up enough things, let her liver fail and she can shuffle off this mortal coil. That liver should have gone to a more deserving person, who isn't at the end of their life.

Geez, Toxic, that's a bit harsh. I mean I'm first in the queue to criticise the guavamint - espacially the "health" side of things, but who is to say there was a more deserving person?
 
TheREV : I'm not denying its harsh, in some ways I'm a very moral and ethical person and Manto, in my opinion, has done this country a shyteload of bad and condemned many thousands of people to death through her AIDS denialist approach....

I spose I'm just venting my frustrations at how poorly this country is being run at the moment.....

I don't necessarily wish she were dead, I just feel that say a 30yr old person who has a good 30 or 40 years ahead of them is alot more deserving than a 70yr old woman who is past the prime of her life.
