This is not a discussion, this is pure discrimination.

This sort of rubbish NEEDS to be shut down.
 
It seemed like a discussion to me. It's all very well shouting about discrimination and freedom of expression etc etc. but when you try to shut down people who think differently to you, you are in effect discriminating, trying to deprive them of freedom of speech and expression, thus committing the same act you are accusing her of.

That is not discrimination, discrimination is not wanting a black to marry a white. This is a hot topic and i feel you are pushing your views on other people and crying foul when they do not agree with you. Are you gay or something?

I totally agree with you but I'd like to take it a little further...

I think the issue stems from society adopting what is essentially a religious rite (christian marriage) as a standard legal contract.

If the standard was more of a civil union set up then we could keep it separate from religious matters.

I am a married atheist, we had a secular wedding ceremony and I can totally understand the christian point of view that gay marriage is 'unbiblical' ...it is. So is a marriage between two atheists quite frankly. How much do I care about 'biblibcality'? Exactly zip.

It is not right that the church owns the rights to the constitution of marriage and seeing that it does: what right does the state then have to decide who may and may not be married?

Anyone should be entitled to a spouse of their choice - if you are gay and christian, well then you have to take that up with god but as far as the law of the land goes there should be no limitations.
 
Biologically I find it silly. It serves no purpose.

But my personal opinion is live and let live. Why should it bother anyone?
 
Marage allows any two people the protection of the law while they are in a relationship.

Everyone deserves this right.

It's fairly obvious that she's just another religious zealot reading into the bible (already translated by the church to fit their needs) to suit their own needs.

There is to be a discussion regarding what aspect?

Its only the op's point of view. She's allowed that as everybody else is. How does that make her narrow-minded?
