Dragon Age Veil Guard

Someone did an oopsie and mixed up 11am GMT and EST and already posted their review and took it down immediately, they gave it a 8.5.

Early reviews are not looking too good:

In an initial post to X, as translated via Google’s auto-translate function, Sirinova wrote, “Guess who got a Review Code from Dragon Age: The Veilguard. BioWare just sold his soul to the devil!!! I just had to say I was a non-binary woman and they gave it to me!!! Get ready for the mega review soon or tomorrow!”

Sirinova then shared her review of the game after three and a half hours of play. She wrote, “Terrible graphics. Boring and monotonous combat, they want to copy [God of War] but in a bad way.”

She continued, “The game does not run at a constant 30 FPS, it drops and the screen freezes when there are many NPCs. Many of the dialogues are noticeably made with AI.”

Very linear, the options lead nowhere (False free will). The creator of characters focused on the trans and LGBT community,” she added. “Inclusive language, in Spanish subtitles.”

Next, she wrote, “The character move very robotic, they lack animations. THe script doesn’t make sense, neither do the quests, from one place to another killing bugs. Too much focus on homosexuality, lesbians, drags. Race swap everywhere.”

This is the problem with the woke b.s. They want to put a divisive political element into a choice driven RPG, but they are incapable of writing a good story around it because the writers are so incompetent they cannot actually put themselves into the shoes of someone who disagrees with them.

I am not seeing good things from this game.

Glad I didn't pre-order, will wait for those of you who did. Please post honest opinions, and don't look for reasons to justify purchasing it, it doesn't help the industry... :p

TBH Only reason it is climbing steam charts currently is because people are still holding out hope. That things are being blown out of proportion.
Me included. However, have not pre-ordered. Wait and see the reviews.
Suspect this may be the title that kills any hype for Dragon Age, Mass effect and Bioware entirely.
Because the tension and dread around next Mass effect is already so high, any blowback with this will hit that title as well.

And I am someone that has played pretty much every Bioware RPG game. BG1, BG2 (Can still recite from memory some of main villains' lines, so epic David Warner MVP), KOTOR, NWN 1 & 2, MDK2. All previous dragon age titles and all mass effect titles (Yes even my face is tired edition). So, this is especially disappointing.

Pre-ordering is foolhardy behaviour these days.

I preordered ME3, which ended up being an amazing game despite the ending at the time.
And Horizon: Forbidden west, which was rubbish.

What early reviews, some dumb girl on Twitter who crapped on Black Ops 6 for some non-binary character I never even met in the campaign and even said DB Sparking Zero is dead like Concord. The one review that went up early was 8.5/10.

I'm not the "new" Bioware's biggest fan, I think their new game director should identify itself as a clown, but I am cautiously optimistic that enough of the old Bioware storytelling DNA remains for one last 7.5~8/10 hurrah from a studio two steps from the inevitable EA closure.

First reviews coming today from 5pm.

Not that it matters because I will def get the game regardless what reviews say.

Yep. If I went by 'reviewers' would have missed some really great gaming sessions. Sure a lot of them started out as wholesome with a genuine love and interest, but now.....kinda like getting truth from mainstream media.

I hope you are right tbh. I really enjoyed their games. I just think they have poisoned the well.

Saw another early review saying it has the best combat in Bioware's history, best cast of characters, great story.

I'm the opposite, I'm the biggest Bioware fan. But I don't like some of the early impressions. I hope they're wrong, I really want this game to succeed and Bioware to get back to being legends at RPGs.

I don't mind the woke schit in the character creation, which filters into the dialogue. People can do whatever they fancy. But I do mind if it finds its way into the story, and starts shaping the story with some hidden agendas. DA is supposed to be badass, some of these videos and conversations look like some Disney schit.

As I said I'll wait for the early adopters, I just hope they're honest enough about this stuff. Graphics, gameplay, mechanics etc are all well and good, but this has the potential to ruin it for me...

Think I'll wait for a deep sale on this, or never play it xD

RPS take:

Disappointing if the storytelling isn't up to standard as PCG is saying:

Beware the positive reviews this time. Some of them come from people like this:

I especially enjoyed being able to make my character overweight. As someone who’s mid-sized, it’s validating to be able to create a character that reflects that aspect of myself. Not everyone will want to, but it’s liberating to have the option. As too is being able to have top surgery scars, or to depict a woman with facial hair. These are details that help us resonate with Rook on a deeper level, truly allowing for the immersion RPGs are so famed for. Some will call it woke, but they’re merely parroting a word without understanding its origins.

Cos you were never able to create a fat person before...
