Dragon Age Veil Guard

ME director doing some damage control. Seems like they are aware of how the actual gamers are viewing the situation. Not getting my hopes up after this schitshow but at least it's one positive for the next ME...

As if Dragon Age wasn't a serious and mature universe to begin with. If anything it was way darker and more serious than Mass Effect. Female elf origin in DA:O is centered around a lord wanting to rape members of the main character's family FFS.

You do know that EA only gave reviewer codes to people who they think that would give them good reviews, anyone who gave them even the slightest bit of fair criticism did not get a review code.

And this isn't people being buttmad about not getting a review code. It is EA's publicity team telling reviewers that they were going to get one, to keep them quiet, and then not getting one.

So the reviews you are seeing now, before the game has been released have come from a biased sample set.
Fextra is hardly the ethical voice to be using as evidence .

Pcgamer explanation for those who this bothers:

Why is this schit even in the game outside of character creation. Why is there even dialogue options for it?

This is meant to be set on Thedas, not Thedas with earth BS dragged into it. They are meant to have their own cultures and social norms as envisaged the first 3 games.

It completely removes you from the fantasy of an RPG set on another world, and brings you right back here.

If they wanted to introduce this crap then they could have done so through a DLC (I wonder how many people would buy that), maybe exploring the northwest and stumbling into a new society with their own norms where this is normal.

There's so many ways it could have been done without shoving it at you...

Didn't bother me in the slightest in the incredible Baldur's Gate 3, hopefully won't bother me in Veilguard.

Just like every other game out there, I'm not gonna like each and every conversation but that's fine. Not gonna let one or two screenshots or one or two short clips on the internet get to me.

I keep reminding myself that BG3 went through the same thing and people screamed woke this and woke that before release lol but the game turned out to be amazing despite the non binary, tranny bs.

Are you saying you want less content in your game, or just less of the content you have a personal issue with?

I think a magical, mystical culture would be even less rigid and straight-laced than ours due to magic and all the interesting things that could do for basic biology...

Bioware games have always been on the cutting edge of social issues with character interactions straight/gay/etc , honestly not sure why this is such a departure in your view.

If they started out the franchise in this way, I wouldn't have an issue with it. As I don't have an issue with gay people being in it. As it stands it doesn't belong in the lore.

All the more reason why you wouldn't need top surgical scars. Again breaking immersion.

See point above. If they want to introduce new social concepts, do it in a new IP. That way it's embedded into the lore and nobody would complain. Or at the very least, a DLC that takes you to an unexplored part of the world. Doing it this way, and lecturing you about it, makes you feel like you haven't been following the series for the past 15 years and undermines our intelligence...

A YouTuber made the point that some people really like to play as themselves in these games. If a person has surgical scars, they might want their avatar to have something similar to help them get into the character. Honestly, it's an option that you don't need to pick. Plenty of other fantasy games allow you to have scars on your character. They are always totally optional. This is only an issue if you want it to be.

Not a fan of the lecturing part, but it's their lore, the idea that the last three games are the rigid defining state of the world doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Societies in fiction can and do change, they are not immutable, just like those in real life.

There may be a new contender to dethrone Starfield as the king of bad writing

More conspiracy theories, "return to form" is just how people speak English...
