Dragon Age Veil Guard

After 1 hour in the character creator (impressively detailed!) and 2 in-game, it feels very much like a Dragon Age game. I'd even say it's a "return to form" for Bioware and no they didn't pay me for that :sneaky:

Thoroughly enjoyed Inquisition (how has it already been 10 years?!) and the new game is shaping up to be even better.

The game is just stunningly next-gen, that strand based hair is just superb. The combat is immersive, the companions are unique, and the cutscenes are just on a level that only Bioware and a few others (Naughty Dog, Santa Monica studios, Guerilla etc) can achieve.

I can see it going up to 200k+ during the weekend. Looks like it will be a very divisive game but should still be quite successful for them.

From what I have seen on the dialogue and combat front. Game does not interest me one bit, but I am glad if others dig it.

One thing I can commend them for. It seems the game came out very polished and optimized. Rare for AAA games these days.

You do have a lot to say about a game that doesn't interest you one bit though

I find it an interesting topic. Not DA in particular, just the weird things being done in the industry as of the last few years.

I can't remember a time since I have been gaming from the end 90's that there has ever been this big of a gap between the core player base and the developers/publishers/journalists.

I played the first two DA's back in the day, so I did have some interest in the outcome of Veilguard. I am just disappointed.

Laughed till my sides hurt watching Heelvsbabyface stream it. Impossible to take game seriously, seems destined to be memed on. Sidenote, whoever worked on the hair physics is wasted on this title. Really good hair physics. In Veilgaurd its not role playing, it is on rails playing game. Angryjoe was bored out of his mind.

Yeah

Lamejoe is the last person who I will trust to give a decent review

He used to constantly complain about hand holding in games, but when introduced to a game where you cannot just spam click your attacks, but need to time your attacks he sucks, cannot get one hit in and then blames the game and gives it a bad review

Only review to watch:

Rest means nothing to me.

It's already EAs most successful launch on Steam ever - will probably hit 100K+ over the weekend. Steam user reviews are very positive as well. We won't know what EAs expectations are though, but it's more successful than the Jedi Star Wars games , at least from the Steam launch perspective.

But I'm waiting for someone to say that EA probably paid for those user reviews...

Looks like BT Games is the only place locally with physical PS5 copies. Placed an order but payment is failing for some reason.

Seems like it's around 80% on steam. Not sure how that will change in a couple of weeks. But looks like I might give it a go sometime...

It's EA so will be on Game Pass in a year if you are prepared to wait. It's what I'm going to do.

I really need a game to start, it was either this or the new Life is Strange but I'm having to import that from Amazon US so might start DA first.

The Veilguard is better without a doubt. I bought the deluxe version of the new Life is Strange game as a huge fan of the others.

I don't know how Deck Nine is getting worse each game. Before the Storm was great, and excellent attempt from a studio's first solo attempt at a big game. True Colors was good too.

This one though... Chapters 1, 2 and 3 are good but Chapters 4 and 5 are so bad. I don't know what went on towards the end of development or if Square Enix is pushing them to milk LIS or something but it's not looking good.

Thanks, I saw the reviews were middling but I'm going to play it regardless just due to the fact that I love the other games.

I ended up ordering both DA and LIS from Amazon as my payments on BTGames were failing and support wasn't helpful.
