Name some badass moments from Dragon Age Inquisition or Andromeda? You will find one or two but nothing over the top like the original ME Trilogy. Just like in Veilguard.
Why have you suddenly got a problem with it when you didn’t a decade ago?
Firstly, history revisionist much?
Andromeda was not liked. "My face is tired" is a meme for a reason.
All the NOOT NOOT memes of Andromeda, exist for a reason.
The memes making fun of the running animation upstairs in Andromeda exist for a reason.
On top of all the bad & cringeworthy dialogue, most of the characters are just boring. Only exceptions are Drack and Vetra.
There were so many bugs in Andromeda, they even had Peebee holding a gun backwards in a cutscene.
Andromeda had the same issues Veilgaurd has. At no point during the game, do you feel pressure or that the stakes are high.
Again, just like in Veilgaurd with Hair Physics, the only exceptional thing about Andromeda was the ground vehicle mechanics.
The bad guys in Andromeda and Veilgaurd are just mustache twirling muah hah haa villains.
We destroy because we want to destroy. Muah ha haaa. Most of the game is spent chasing McGuffins.
Inquisition was divisive among dragon age fans, but it was still acceptable because despite being less like DA Origins it was still a good game.
Voiced dialogue matched what you chose at least. Voice acting and lines are much better and in line with a fantasy medieval era.
More a Game of thrones feel. Takes itself seriously, seeing things like dragons are presented as dangers. Not a fun afternoon activity.
There were jokes, but they were set appropriately. Not trying to undermine the serious nature of the state of world.
Veilgaurd is too much California speak, lame marvel jokes and reversals to break any tension or immersion.
Veilgaurd does not allow anything to sit, to have tension, always a reversal dialogue to turn it into a joke.
The specific words the writers chose to use, places you squarely in 2020s.
Like, maybe, sh*t. F**k, a**hole, or something.
Bellara is most guilty of this because she always qualifies everything with a maybe or a I don't know or a something after just having spouted a bunch of technical jargon.
Along with TONS and TONS of exposition dumps.
Like seriously, near the end of the game, you need to find a way to open a magic barrier.
Bellara spouts a bunch of crap about harmonics and things and Neve argues she has a different plan with magic or some crap.
They play it up as some really challenging thing to do, you as player need to choose which way to do it, as it seems like you are putting whomever you choose in danger.
Not joking, literally 2 secs later and Bellarra has the barrier open. Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Like WTF was all that dialogue for? F off game.

Spoiler alert, it was just a contrived reason to pick who will be captured by one of the elven gods.
Also, why TF does a Tevinter allow a stranger, an outsider who is not from Tevinter, make monumental decisions that will determine the fate of the entire nation? Please make it, make sense.
Veilgaurd, the meetings they have, they make such huge leaps of judgments, and everyone just accepts it as true, because they are only as smart as the writer. The amount of information they have access to is not enough for them to make such assumptions.
Then we have a cute Griffon with eyes bigger than lizzos ass and a Skeleton with selective mutism.
Just to have them interact to have another cutie pie moment.
There is a scene with Taash where she is feeding birds, to present a new caring side to the player but they again screw it up.
She is feeding the birds, then at the end calls the birds stupid.
Because showing Taash expressing a genuine nurturing feminine emotion is just so not like triggering and stuff.
So, like we can like, not do that and like stuff.
Besides Taash is always pulling a face like someone crapped in her lunch.
Then we have a character becoming a lich, literally undead and again, it is treated as a fun afternoon activity.
Oh, it's just something a person does, in between checking my reddit posts, drinking my Starbucks coffee and meme posting on twitter.
OMG am like totally a lich and stuff. Like so random. For the gram besties.
Never mind the fact, that in every other realm, a lich is the epitome of evil.
A mage intentionally disconnecting from, life, emotion and morality.

Regarding Inquisition.
Inquisitor chooses how to deal with prisoners, you can Ned Stark everyone.
Imprison them, banish them out of Thedas or to deep roads, or make them Tranquil.
Have can have ally groups join you as a partner or joined as a slaves.
You even have the choice to send companions away. Something that is impossible in Veilgaurd.
No matter how much you dislike their guts and wish there was a way to have the bad ending where everyone dies.
DA:I, you can kill random animals. Veilgaurd no, that would make you a mean poopie pants. Not allowed.
You are not even allowed to die jumping off a cliff. Oopsie, you had a little tumbly whumbly, up you go darling. Right back where you were.
You get a stupid achievement for checking for fall damage, but only works if you do it at a specific spot in your home base.
You can jump down to some area, even hear yourself make contact but the game does not count that, it returns you back to where you were.
1. Inquisitor: Lord Erimond, any protection you thought you had, has apparently been withdrawn. You will die, by my hand.
*Lord Erimond gets Ned Stark'd*
2. Inquisitor: He insulted my honor; I want him dead.
3. Inquisitor: It was insanity to let you live after what happened.
4. Inquisitor: The inquisition will be a force to rival any in Thedas, in MY name.
5. Inquisitor: I was waiting for you to say something worth listening to.
6. Inquisitor: I don't tolerate people questioning my decisions!
7. Inquisitor: Are you certain you want to risk angering me? The Herald of Andraste?!
8. Inquisitor: I have no use of the failed lieutenants of the enemy.
9. Inquisitor: At least this time, justice will be swift
*Proceeds to stab Lady Florianne in middle of ballroom in front of everyone*
10. Inquisitor: Sending soldiers to "Patrol" the area, might make people think twice about slandering me.
Man: Then you must know I am within my rights. You are not the kind of man to disregard them.
Inquisitor: *Walks up and stabs him in the chest* You are wrong about that.
Dorian: What!? you stabbed him! In his own shop.
Inquisitor: I did.
Inquisitor: If you die serving here, so be it. Either way, you won't be my problem for long.
Inquisitor: Get your treacherous face out of my sight, NOW!
Inquisitor: Viddasala's is not killing Solas! I am killing Solas!
Inquisitor: Monster? You flatter yourself, look at you. You are nothing.
Inquisitor: You gave secrets to the Qun that would condemn everyone. I cannot leave that unpunished.
*Kills the man* Inquisitor: Lets go, we have a lyrium mine to ruin.
Inquisition also did something Veilgaurd does not, choices from previous games, affected your world state.
Veilgaurd just goes all Luke from last Jedi and yeets all your choices off a cliff.
This is not your story; this is OUR story.
Spoiler for fight with Veilgaurd end game boss, ELVEN GOD. You don't actually fight the god, you just run around smashing blight boils.
Need to release 4 companions, each locked by 4x blight boils. Hitting a thing 16 times to play a cutscene. YeY so epic.
Never mind the fact, you did that mechanic 6 times before you reach said boss.
Never mind the fact, you did that mechanic since start of game. Hundreds of times before.
Never mind the fact the blight boil mechanic is a reskin of the floating red crystal mechanic, which is a reskin of the blue crystal mechanic...

Did inquisition have problems? But these pale in comparison to Veilgaurd's problems.
Yes, the closing of rift tears is repetitive to say the least. And again, they messed with demon designs.
Coryphues is not the best as a final boss or antagonist. This was again, one of the complaints of Inquisition.
The DLCs make up for that along with the dragons and the section where you explore a future without you.
But he did have some banger lines tho.
Even a game made in less than 2 years has a better Antagonist.
To me everything in Veilgaurd is shallow, surface level. About as deep as a coffee stain.
You have limited choices and the ones you do have are only an illusion of choice or a contrivance.
It would not be so bad if this was not a dragon age game, if it was instead called. Swordy swordy stab stab adventure fun time.
But it is a dragon age game. So, it is judged as a dragon age game.
You can play it; you can enjoy it all you want; you can have all the fun you want with this, no comment on your sense of taste...
But to sit there and revise history to make DA Veilgaurd seem better:
