Dreaded black screen on Oneplus 6

might be thats what killed it, you could try wrapping in in plastic and putting it in the freezer, to see if it will come back,
did that with my LG G4 that frequently overheated and became unusable, same with my innjoo fire, where the battery inflated like a marshmallow.

otherwise, this is what happens when you buy a phone with little aftermarket support in SA, Wileyfox swift V1, for instance

learned this lesson myself with all the weird and wonderful android phones out there. I owned some very good, but ARENT Samsung.
i tried putting it in ziplock and freezer
didnt switch in but was charging
went back in morning and nothing
i really didnt want to give in to samsung or apple

leave it a bit longer in the freezer, and see what happens,

you might get lucky with a pakistani shop, they might be able to see what is the problem,
when my LG g4 gave issues they found me a case hat dissipates heat better.

you dont really have a choice in SA than to go with Apple or Samsung, we dont really get much else in this country from the major manufacturers, like Google or oneplus/Nothing or Motorola.

unless your prepared to go Huawei and xiomei or honor or some other Chinese phone and give the CCP all your data as well.

thanks
getting it back from repair company someone recommended so will put it in freezer overnight and see

i think of just joining the masses of apple and samsung but both previous phones the HTC and Oneplus lasted long and were great
There is a reason that Samsung has managed to stick around and be as it is. Cause it consistently works now, plus longer support.

Either the CCP or the Americans :p and exactly what would they do with a South Africans info?
Xiaomi isn't the same value it was, Huawei isn't Google supported Android anymore sooo that's why it dropped in popularity.

There's also Honor. Update support is still lacking but good phones.

Id rather the Americans personally, unless the Israelis will take a crack at making a smartphone, LOL
preferably one without a hidden block of C4, ROLFOL

and you are right, what exactly are the alternative Android manufacturers in South africa? there isnt Google, there isnt Motorola
who is left? Chinese? doubious quality and who knows what they do in the back end,

so that only leaves you with Samsung, and Apple, Id stick with a used Samsung personally, at least Id be able to find cases and batteries for it long term, with others its very hit and miss.

Pretty much Samsung for Android, unless you don't mind Honor, Xiaomi and Vivo.

I find it sad that we only really have Samsung for android in SA, no other manufacturer like Google or Motorola or LG has decided to open branches in SA.

guess we really are a backwater far away from the rest of the worlds shenanigans.

Honor is good and Oppo is as well. They're overpriced but you do get updates even on the budget models.

how is the support for mainstream chinese devices in SA? (Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo etc)
coz I got my Oneplus from Vodacom and support was still non-existent.
Hence my net device will be samsung

i was going to bring back a Pixel or newer Oneplus on way back from holidays later this year but now having second thoughts

bit afraid with these chinese phones, dont like the fact they run all sorts of weird software in the background doing weird things,
I know Samsung isnt much better, but Id rather them then the CCP.

you still can, just make it a secondary phone and not a primary phone,
haven't traveled in a while otherwise would have grabbed a Pixel overseas to bring back with me, and kept a samsung around if it fails.

LG doesn't make phones anymore, they were here in SA. We did used to have Sony, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Huawei and and and. But market is not that big in SA, so we can really only sufficiently keep 2 brands alive.
Nothing wrong with Samsung, the UI isn't like it used to be, in fact it's probably the most refined of the lot really. I've had a variety of phones from all the OEMs over the 16 years or so and so far the 4 Samsungs in my house now haven't been bad. From an A34 to my S23 Ultra

I'll rather have them than the Samsung bloatware and dual apps for everything.
