Drivers Licence Renewal

I did mine at Randburg, it was the most unexpected thing, the service has improved a lot ever since the booking thing started compared to the previous chaos.

Did mine there a week ago. In and out in just under an hour. The majority of that wait was to pay.

Very pleasant experience.

When I did my booking there something ridiculous like 8000 possible slots available including Saturdays and Sundays.

Anyone used "Sandton" (edge of Wynberg / Alexandra) ?

Else will go for Waterfall, or

Yap still had to book at edenvale. Was in an out in 20 minutes, and the staff were friendly. I don’t think you can walk in anyway in Gauteng.
 
What Forza has said above - go to the Eco Park one - open 7 days from 9am to 9pm, very quick in and out, they even help walk-ins without online appointments

+1 for this - complete process done in 20 mins, with temp driver's licence in hand as well
 
Just finished making my renewal and getting the temporary license at Waterfall RTMC.

I was in and out within 15mins, did the eye-test there because the optometrist I went to didn't have the stamp.

Only negative is the parking. Almost took longer just to get into the office complex and park than it took to do any of the admin.

Also, don't forget to bring a pen. I made this n00b mistake because I figured everything would be digital. Luckily the lady at the front desk had a spare to give me. I brought ID pictures for the temp license but they didn't need them, they just took a picture with the camera and that was it.

Total cost was R300.
 
Does anyone know how long the new licence takes to be collected? 4-6 weeks?

Do you get notified by SMS?

Mine was about 2 months, Waterfall.
I received an SMS, as did the few people I chatted to when collecting. But not too sure how well the whole SMS thing works.
