Keep that in mind some of us really do have shoestring budgets and we tend to plan around these.

Driving all around town? It's 3km and you'd have saved almost an hour and half

Yes, do NOT queue when you arrive there, rather speak up - otherwise they won't know you are there just for a collection.

No, you just pitch up, there is a collection room somewhere, they send you there.

It looks like this on the website:



Problem is clicking on "Download PDF" results in an HTML file being downloaded.

Do I need this form before I go? If so, can someone post it here please?

I downloaded the form.

It was outdated. They issued new forms when I was in the queue.

The chances are good they will issue blank forms for people in the queue to fill in.

I have 2 questions about drivers licence renewals:

1) I recently lost my wallet (containing both ID card and drivers licence) in a taxi. Taxi driver has disappeared in the wind. I now need to apply for a new drivers licence card but see very clearly on the NATIS website that you need to bring your SA ID with you. Does anyone know if they would accept a valid South African passport as identification instead?

2) Do I specifically need a police affidavit explaining my lost ID or can I get an affidavit from a commissioner of oathes (a lawyer) stating the same?
