Mean_Monster said:I just want to ask the other people on here with Netgear DG834GT Routers to please comment. I experienced a lot of ASDL drop outs this afternoon and then logged a call with Telkom in frustration. Still haven't received a call back on the fault that I logged. I eventually gave up and switched everything off and dropped someone off at the airport.
Came back now switched everything on from scratch and now everything seems to run better than it did before. Definitely getting better speed than the 192K I am supposed to.
Is this a router problem or could this be Telkom?
I have seen though that the router sometimes displays the message LCP Down? That is normally when I can't get it up at all without rebooting the router and only then it stays up for a minute or 2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have also done all the Firmware upgrades that is available on Netgear's site. I am back to the original firmware now.

after doing multiple configs, adding a removing stuff, i'm positive its down to the wireless setting at Auto 108mbs. if you change it g & b on channel 11 everything is fine. alright so you could say you cant run at 108, but at least you get a constant connection. based on this netgear will hopefully address this on releasing a fix (ie firmware upgrade)
So yeah, anyone having issues with their Netgear, try:
1. Swapping out power adapters (wall wart)
2. Changing the wireless setting to B + G and channel 4
But of course switching to B + G mode is a waste of the GT, because I bought it for the sole reason of connecting at 108 via wireless. If I wanted to connect at 54 I would have gotten the G.

For me, v1.01.28 is the worst firmware I have used, and I've tried 1.01.00, 1.01.20, 1.01.22, 1.01.25, and of course 1.01.28.
The faults I experienced are as follows;
1) On any speed setting other than "108Mbps auto", I lost about 20% of pings.
2) Using "108Mbps auto" was fantastic on one of my routers for about 20 hours, at which time it became baking hot, and stopped working completely. Only a power off and power on brought back the wireless.
3) On my other router, all wireless settings were a dead loss!
