Is it legal? Who changed the rules about cycling on a freeway?
I thought it was only the N roads?

Cycling on M4 is legal, only between uMhlanga and Ballitto. Before the uMhlanga onramp it is not allowed.
although at one stage "other patrons" at the bar had spilt drinks on him
I did not expect them on the road at all because the M4 is a freeway which prohibits bicycles.”
So that's the defense?

Well if the cops didn't do any blood tests (didn't see any mention in the article) then it's a good defense. So that's the defense?

"I wasnt drunk, the passenger was."
What does being drunk have to do with anything? He ran over them, clear and simple. He's on trial for culpable homicide, not DUI.
On a freeway where they were supposedly not allowed to cycle?
Is it not standard procedure? Especially as the one witness said he was smelling of alcohol.
So killing them is acceptable?
How does that saying go? After reading this thread I give up on people.
Assuming that it's my opinion that killing them is ok, is ok?
It's just a pity that the onus is still on the vehicle driver to try and avoid people that are walking and cycling where they are not allowed, for obvious reasons![]()

It's the responsibility of someone drive upwards of a ton of rapidly moving metal which can inflict lethal injury on anyone it hits, is attention to your surroundings really too much to ask for the convenience of owning a car? Not saying pedestrians aren't often at fault, especially those crossing the road on freeways - but these where cyclists moving with the direction of travel -is is really that hard to not hit them?
