Hi Everyone,

My DSD1110 is getting stuck at what looks like 2==2 during startup.

Is this the same problem as the common 8118 error? I don't see any mention of 2==2, but 8118 seems quite common. Maybe I am misreading something.

If not, does anyone know a fix? I have tried a hard reset but no joy.

Thanks. :)

I have had a couple of decoders that got stuck in a loop whereby when it was starting it would not finish initialising. So yes very similar to the 8118 error and it probably is the power supply that has failed, so you will have to take it in to get replaced.

I've seen the error 8==> on those decoders before. You don't want that one.

No idea how to fix it, the last DSTV decoder that refused to work after a hard reset was fubar and needed to be replaced.

Urgh! FML. There goes another R350 repair on a R400 decoder. After opening it up, I was shocked how many green stickers were placed inside the thing with technicians' names on. This unit must have been repaired at least 6 times prior to me getting it. 3 stickers on the c10 capacitor, 1 on c1, 1 on power supply, 1 on the rf box. Plus a few more liberally scattered inside the decoder which must have come off with the heat.

Thanks for the replies. FWIW, pep is selling a new decoder for R400 at the moment, which comes with a year or 2 warranty, so I will rather go this route.

Yep I actually cancelled my insurance with my DSD1110 decoder (when I still had it) becauseof the fact that paying insurance of R20.00 a month on a R400.00 decoder did not seem worth it. Also all the decoders they replace yours with when you take it under insurance are just old ones that have been fixed (probably a blown cap and they just replace it).

So rather get a new one and basically your 2 years of warranty saves you enough of the insurance you would have paid to pay for a new decoder after the two years.

On the second swop out at Multichoice, the lady brought a PVR wrapped in shrink-wrap. When she took it off, there were feelers from cockroaches sticking out the vents. When I told her I did not want that one, she shrieked and called a male assistant. I thought he would collapse from laughter
