DStv’s new channels

o yay on the new channels:rolleyes:

They still overpriced, i still want to select what i want and pay for that

ESPN classics? what the hell did they get those channels on a "special of the week" from their channel providers, dont make me laugh.

ESPNC looks like a re-run channel for sport. M-net Extra is re-runs as well. Nobody cares about Lesotho TV (except people living in Lesotho maybe). NGW might be the only ok'ish channel. Monochoice has become the supplier of re-runs and now re-run channels (for your viewing pleasure, obviously). Had anybody actually been involved in a opinion poll about what DSTV shows, except for the occasional web based poll?

I thought they were going to separate the genres numerically? iow Entertainment in the 100, sport in the 200s, documentaries in the 300s, kids in the 400s, music 500s and so on. Otherwise what was the point of the first channel shift?

It was just Monochoice buggering stuff up again.

Maybe they think it makes ppl think they have new stuff or something, who knows.

The only good thing to come of this is that the movie channels (Mnet, MM1, MM2) are now 101,102 and 103 which at least makes them easy to find...Then you can decide which rerun of which old movie you have already seen to death you want to watch

Shuffling the channels every now and again - I know why:

If friends come over to you house (who don't have DSTV), and ask to watch a certain channel - you would have no clue as they keep changing it. this makes your friends think there are so many channels, you don't even know where 80% of them are!
They then get DSTV too, only to find that 6 channels are watchable, and even if they watch more at first, they will soon get board after a year or so with all the re-re-runs.

i think i might actually enjoy that espn classics channel.

I still have channels that I am not supposed to watch on my listing, like for e.g. 102. For the life me, WHY LIST SOMETHING THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO ME if I'm not allowed to see it? You know for the person that insists on saying they are a good listener, I think this is arrogance at its best!
As to shuffling programs every three months, I think they are board. They just keep themselves busy by annoying us, and sit around in their offices and have a laugh. Why else would they be doing this then?

i think i might actually enjoy that espn classics channel.

If you a real sports fanatic its excellent.
I enjoyed watching it this weekend, while waiting for live sport to start.

yeah i did the same. while recognising there will be reruns it might actually be a good thing as you wait for your next live sport fix.

First off they should remove all the channels you can't see out of the Premium SA bouquet. Then they should really rethink all this rerun crap. Lastly get us SCFI channel...ffs!

ESPN Classic

I have noticed that they are already having re-runs of shows that were aired before.

I saw the Globe Trotters Basketball match twice in two days. And it was the Same thing,on the same channel. Very disappointing.

well they will clearly choose a set number of items and rerun them over the month. It seems to me that they might have a 2 day cycle.

Wow, I never knew their Compact, Select, and EasyView packages were such crap.

I thought the Select meant you could actually select what you wanted like Tns said.

As for re runs don't get me started. If you watch any channel on DSTV, you'll see exactly the same material repeated 12 hours later in the same order. The movie channels are nothing but re runs.

:sick:Plus the average quality of television in general is absurdly, mind-bendingly, dull, boring, repetitive, silly boring, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive...

If I didn't live with my parents who pay for it, I would never buy it, and never miss it, as I would never pay for it. They wish.:p

Much rather have more ADSL cap :D

Hmmm .... Mnet Stars is so bad it only has like 15 or 20 movies for a whole month .... you work out the repeats! As for the overflow of neighbouring countries sh*t and wildlife sh*t ....... ja, no comment
