I don’t know if this has been discussed before but here goes. So I’ve been a DStv subscriber for a while despite everything. When Disney Plus launched I got the discounted annual subscription. Today I receive an SMS saying my monthly subscription has been activated and will expire end August. A bit confused I contact Disney Plus and they tell me I was subscribed to the monthly service by DSTV so I have my annual subscription which I purchased plus a monthly one added by DStv. Contacting DStv I find out they gave me a 3 months free and this was the first month I was charged which is why it’s showing on my profile. Is it legal for them to add subscriptions without permission?

Nope, unless you somehow linked them?

According to the DStv consultant I was added automatically by the “system”
Then I'd suggest you take it further. This would be nothing but theft. If you want Disney+ on the decoder, you would have signed up for it.

Would like to follow up on this, sounds suspicious. Can you send a mail to [email protected] with the details?

Also mentioned here Post 724 and 745 .... although no annual subs there, just the 3 month free one which got billed

Had a similar situation now where I received a email "Disney Plus Add To Bill Email" but I have not signed up for anything! I have send them a email with reference and hoping for a good explanation.

@Hanno Labuschagne

WHich reminds me, surely them adding to your billing should kick up a debi check or do they not subscribe to it?

I also received the email. Busy with Call Centre now. Apparently there is a glitch in the system and they cancelled/removed it.

"a glitch" as in lets rape our consumers more and maybe they wont notice
Just got the same email. Glitch my ass. They're hoping most people won't notice the extra R120. Just finished with them; they sent through a "request to cancel" so we will see.
