Soo glad I cut the dstv cord years ago. it does bite me in the butt now and then but generally, better off without them.

Seeing a few reports on Twitter/X about this today. Seems you are not alone.I wasn't going to say anything because they did sort it, until they did it again...
A few days ago, I received an sms from disney+, stating that my phone number is linked to an account there. The only thing I could think of is dstv. I log into my dstv account and there it is, disney+ was linked to my account.
I contact the chatbot, then get transferred to someone. After giving my details, they had the cheek of asking me if the sales department can call me to try and sell more things, while they look at my account.
Then they said, I added it to my account, when I said I didn't add it, asking who added it, they couldn't answer, the system doesn't show.
They also said they cannot remove it from my account, I first have to wait for the next billing cycle when the account is active. I said well then I might have to pay for it. Then they said, well then you have to write an affidavit so that they can investigate.
I then said, well another reason to cancel dstv, then suddenly they escalated and then they could get it removed and give me a reference number. But before that it was impossible.
Well, fast forward to today, I see I received another SMS, my account was linked again yesterday. Wow. I guess I will have to cancel DSTV now :-|
Makes sense. It was launched roughly a year and 3 months so its the annual renewal time for those who had the 3 month period last year.Seeing a few reports on Twitter/X about this today. Seems you are not alone.
I finally managed to "opt out" as they refer to it (not "cancel" as such). When they did this to me, it was after a free trial period of Disney+.
Another time DStv upgraded me after I got a free awards 1 month package upgrade. (I later cancelled the awards program.)
In both cases, in the end I still lost a few Rands. Unbelievable.
Keep an eye on that, if membership still there by say Wed. / Thurs. then you may have to take my route - cancellation via a supervisor / manager only worked for me. And not via chat, can only get one via the Call Centre. MaybeI finally managed to "opt out" as they refer to it (not "cancel" as such).
There are various Rewards things to click on, but only at the bottom of the page for "What it is" is the possibility to opt out shown.
