Wait do they get an admin fee for this or do they get a discount on the premuim and yet bill the clients the full amount? trying to figure out their end game here

Probably incompetence. You'd think given market sentiment they'd have their game faces on but nee.

I also received the email. Busy with Call Centre now. Apparently there is a glitch in the system and they cancelled/removed it.

Good luck with this. Their system tends to randomly re-activate charges all by itself.

They get a percentage of monthly fee/sign up fee if subscriber signs up via their decoder . Same as itunes store or google store .

I was wondering what was happening. Just this afternoon I got subscribed and was sent the lovely SMS.

/sigh

Be prepared. I got a billing item of R31.61 today for "Disney+".

Busy fighting with them on online chat.

Check your bills people.

I never get any bills from them.

Have to actively download my statements (to me, confusing as heck - the statement layout) from their website.

That's why, just about 100% of the time I just interact with their WhatsApp bot to determine amount o/s, when due, then link to payment mechanism by due date.

So far they've not added this Disney option (nonsense) to my profile.

Look forward to the day I can give DStv up entirely, but now's not the right time unfortunately.

This is like the VAS scams that Vodascum and eMpTyN do, latching on "services" with cost and hope you won`t notice. If you want to contract with Satan then this is what happens. The solution is to not contract with Satan.

I had to tell the bot "speak to a consultant" to get a human being (sorry, this is their online bot).

Yes, exactly. They add it to your account like they're doing you a favour, but you're responsible to opt-out. I never even opted-in!

Still using Morse Code and smoke signals then?

They at it again, if they ever stopped. My mother received an SMS on her cell phone that Dstv has added Disney plus to her account. She never requested it, as she has no use or want for it. I've been tried to help her remove it from the account on the dstv site. But it isn't showing under My products. It is only reflecting under the breakdown of the account. She doesn't have a smart phone so she obviously can't use any of the apps to contact Dstv. What is the best way to resolve this issue? At the moment it is for free, so we have time to sort this out.

Go into your account profile on the DStv website and cancel the package add-on. Don't wait for the trial to expire. Even if you don't use it, they will start billing you after the 'free' period.

There isn't an option for Disney under My Products. Does it take time to reflect? Or is there something that can be done on the Disney site itself?

If you click 'Manage' on your main product, you should see a section appear at the lower right. This section has options to add Showmax, Namola, Disney, etc... you should be able to configure it from there.

Alternatively, try the 'Disconnect Packages' button.

Lastly, try the chat option (icon bottom right "Let's Chat!") on the website. That proved the most useful to me. They'll be able to remove it for you.

I see it, but it only has the option to add Disney+ (?????) One of us will have to try the chat box tomorrow or find another way to get in touch with them. I have feeling this is going to some nice aggravation coming our way because of Dstv.
