DStv adds Discovery channel

All I have to say is huh

I don't understand this We currently have Discovery Channel on 250 and Discovery Showcase on 173 now we getting Discovery World on 250 and Discovery Showcase on 173 does the old Discovery channel move to 121

Sorry i am not really clear on what is going on here

What is Discovery world going to offer now that is different to normal Discovery and Discovery Showcase
 
Discovery World specialises in deep-seated investigations of the ancient world, natural history, people and places, modern history and key events, exploration, the history of technology, and war and weaponry.

Its shows include Out of Egypt and Prehistoric Disaster; Raging Planet; Discovery Atlas Revealed and Final Days of an Icon; Zero Hour and When Weather Changed History; Treasure Quest; We Built This City; and Weaponology and Weapon Masters.

Sounds like a more documentary focused channel.
 
Why move things around and then call it an improvement? Keep the channels together, that makes my life easier.
And a bit more info on what exactly the new channel IS would be nice.
 
I don't understand why MC wants to rebrand the Discovery Channel as an entertainment channel. Yep, it is entertaining, but gosh, it is more of a documentory channel.
 
MMM For the price you pay for the premium package they should really be adding 10 or 20 more channels, yearly... Comedy Central? SiFi?
 
How long has the VH1 Classic channel been around?
 
Bring it on. Discovery is definitely better than 90% of the other channels even with the never ending reruns.

Still doesn't justify the crazy monthly fee they charge though. Needs more SiFi, Series & Movies chans for that.

My feeling is that they are only now giving us what we want due to the arrival of the competition.
Its not enough to keep me there anymore.
 
A little too late...

I think ODM will get a lot of business in May.
 
*Yawn* Like always we are years behind the rest of the world, where the other Discovery channels have been around for years.
 
Will it be possible to use your current DSTV Setup (Decoder and dish) just with an ODM smart card?

The big thing about DSTV is SuperSport... They have the rights to a lot of sport and they do it well :/ The only reason to have DSTV is SuperSport really :\

You could keep the dish, but you need to realign the LNB.
You need a new decoder and smart card.

Perhaps ODM can bring us the discovery channel?
