DStv BoxOffice offers free ADSL data

I sense an appreciable lack of love in the preceding comments.
I detect in myself a strong affinity for these sentiments.

Does anyone know the actual resolution and bitrates/filesize used for these movies? If the quality is anything less than 576p with a decent bitrate(must be munch higher than their sport streaming bitrate) then I don't see the point.

Guess that explains why the MWeb uncapped users are bitching about throttling, I imagine BoxOffice will have the highest priority in MWeb's QoS from now on :D

Surely they mean a movie for free as 5gb doesn't get you much nowadays.
The other 1gb for surfing .. lol. And it's just for 6 months

If there was competition or even some sort of governance on the way they practice then their prices would have decreased over time (similar to what's happened in the ISP arena). But having a monopoly on your product allows this 'unfair practice' to go on indefinitely. Yes, I do agree that us as consumers should simply look at the price tag and say no thanks (or fsuck you very much maybe) but if you're an average middle income earner looking for a little digital entertainment in SA you don't really have many choices. Ok maybe you do but then what are they? I can only think of DStv or pirate downloads or go through hoops and proxy servers to get media on your TV.

So theoretically we should just show Multichoice the middle finger and find something else but the bottom line is that Multichoice can do whatever they want and charge whatever they want for it and that in principal is wrong.
