No it's 179 min.... so only the regular version.

Special and extended editions are 208 min and 228 min.

Now that the word is spreading and folks are discovering a world of media that doesn't come from a DStv decoder (especially those not interested in sports) these blood suckers release some like this to curb the threat. It's disgusting...

I recently discovered a family member was forking out almost R300 to MWEB for a 3GB ADSL account and an email address. I was like wtf?? When I asked why oh why because you have options and there is gmail. Their response: MWEB has always been good to me and just recently they upped my internet from 2GB to 3GB for free! A quick check on the web and I advised them that R350 got them 30GB and everything else they already had with MWEB. Their response was something along the lines of why didn't I tell them this sooner :/ But that just epitomizes what is so very wrong with these guys.

MWEB and DStv have launched a promotion where Premium DStv subscribers with an existing ADSL line will get 5GB of free “DStv Data” for six months

meaning it will take you 6 months to use up the 5GB of bandwith thats been throttled :D

That is what I was expecting - some sort of combo deal. 5GB is scarily dumb unless the only idea is to get some users to just try it as they have a low end capped ADSL deal (why??).

A much better idea would have been to create a niche product such as a 1Mbps international uncapped on a 4/10Mbps line with full line speed to MWEB and Multichoice servers or something in that line. In fact a range of options for the international speed would have been a great idea for this.

But sadly Multichoice don't seem to understand too well. Maybe they will do some deals like this when they get the online only packages sorted out.

And FFS can they stop making series unavailable after a week or two so you can go back and watch a series on demand from the beginning?

I honestly think Multichoice actually understand very well and know exactly what they're doing. But doing "the right thing" will mean less money for them so that's never going to happen unless their hand is forced. Hopefully that day isn't too far away.

MWEB ISP CEO Derek Hershaw said that the promotion is aimed at non-MWEB subscribers and typically those who are still on a capped service with their ISP.

As usual the offer isn't available to existing MWeb clients. I'm guessing they're after the mom & pop TI capped subscribers who they'll then try to convert to MWeb uncapped, line & all - Naspers is laughing all the way to the bank as usual :sick:

Edit: what's the betting BoxOffice is high priority on MWeb's new cheapo uncapped accounts?

Nah, the loyal [Mweb] customers know there are other ways of getting better value for their [Mweb] interweb accounts so these guys are targeting the unsuspecting/hapless customers of the other ISPs before they figure out what the mweb customers already know.

I can tell you when I use the ondemand site from my 2Mbps MWEB uncapped I was streaming fine, but using Afrihost on my sister's 3.x uncapped line it would be quite choppy (pre the MTN change, haven't tried it there since).I am not sure about prioritised, but definitely given sufficient link speed to the servers.

Yeah, Afrihost is the new Mweb. Doesn't seem like any other ISP is actually pushing internet forward in SA.
 
So its both capped *and* restricted to a specific use?

The stone age called...they want their data cap back.
