DSTV CANCELLED!

Then everyone is gonna take the HD and not the premium package which will be bad for business for DSTV. It would be much cheaper though unless they really intend on screwing their subscribers over with high sub prices.

What if it was:

R529 for Premium including HD (for those who have an HD decoder and HD TV)
R429 for Premium without HD (for the rest of us subsidising HD)

Yeah, you are looking at it wrong. Buy the HD PVR & use it on an HD TV & just see it as a freebie, cos you not paying any more.

I canceled DSTV end of last month. The best part was telling the operator I am moving to TopTV when she asked why I am canceling! I still received my monthly reminder to pay my account before the 5th. Hope they not trying to pull a fast one as I confirmed with the operator that my account will be stopped after the 4th.

I cancelled this month and confirmed by telephone that it was indeed cancelled (debit order as well), but now we are still able to view all the channels!!!???

Anybody else this happened to?????

Cancelled DSTV long ago. Will get toptv once I move into new house and the initial rush has died down.

I had the same experience. I suspect it might be the decoder. I was using an old DSD 720i. It eventually disconnected exactly on the last day of the month.
What decoder are (were) you using?

No ways Im cancelling my DSTV. Some of the programs   . Only things decent I've watched is Cops and Dateline.

It's just DSTV being careless. We downgraded to Select in anticipation of TopTV. Payment went in on a Friday and by Sunday they had switched it off because their system had not registered the cash payment yet. If the card is not in the box they can't turn it off. I often hear stories about people who bought an old decoder with a 'live card'.

I will be cancelling sooner than later. Multichoice's very poor service level and cost structure does not appeal to me, nor does sport(puke)...

So seems dstv has a new way of getting every last cent out of u....

In the past you would call them to put it off and it would be off before you put the phone down. now they cant put if off immediately apparently because 'you've paid till the end of the month' so the reason some of yours and mine only will go off at the end of the month is because they want to make sure they dont need to refund anyone.... basically, comes down to TopTV does pro-rata, dstv doesnt...

But mine is cancelled and apparently will switch off at end of month...

I called DSTV up to ask about upgrading/downgrading T&C's.
They say if you're on e.g. Easyview you can upgrade for e.g. 3 days and then downgrade again without any connection/downgrade fees and you will only pay prorata. However, if you now after 4 days call again to upgrade, they will upgrade you at no charge but you must stay on the upgraded package till the end of your billing cycle.
If you were completely disconnected at there is a connection fee.

Yep I tried to cancel yesterday and actually felt sorry for the lady at monochoice when sge gasped as I said Im moving to TTV, then that quickly evaporated as she told me I would not be eligeable for my outstanding R16x to be refunded as they now had a 30 day notice period which had to be serviced with the remaining funds!! Well, she DID offer to keep me reconnected for the remaining period so I *should* be grateful lol... stuff em, Im not going back!!

lol @ how they 'offer to keep u connected for the remaining period' like its a huge favour for u, nevermind the fact that you paid for those days... well 2 weeks left for my 'notice' then it will go off for good... :)

A while back this happened to me. I cancelled but I still had premium for about 3 months even though I phoned about 3 times to confirm. On their side it reflected that I had cancelled but I could still view it. It went off after about 3 months though.

Just spoke to another agent and then the supervisor. It turns out I was given wrong information. If you upgrade, you must stay on the upgraded package for a minimum of 30 days.
The policy changed last year. Pretty sucky - no more switching over to premium just to watch the rugby or Wimbledon for a few days.
