We have moved into a new complex where you can simply connect the LNB cable into a jack in the wall and it should work. I am getting NO signal, NO help from the useless DSTV call centre agents, and all my neighbours are working fine. According to DSTV i should get settings from someone and try that - It did not work.

What should my settings be for standard view new tiny silver decoder? Also, should there be SOME signal atleast when all cables are connected?

I need help to watch my Gunners play Chelsea this weekend!! HELP!!!!

FYI - I have taken this decoder from my old house where we were the only occupants using a dish to a communal setup now. Does the cashe need to be cleared or new settings put it or something???

You are barking up the wrong tree. Speak to the body corp and find out which installer services your communal installation... Then call him...

I see you are in CPT. What is the complex called?

Somerset Sereno. In Somerset West. The Body Corporate is an annoyinlgy rude man who will call an installer when he has the time to do so... Which given his age and grumpiness level will be 2 weeks from now..

Don't know that one.I guess you have to keep nagging the grumpy old man. If you have no joy, let me know and I will refer you to a good installer in your area. There will obviously be a call out fee from the installer.

Awesome thanx guys. Will try these and see what happens.

i have the same issue with TopTv mine just keeps jumping and looses sound and the unit is not faulty. could there be settings on my unit as well that I need to change as this is frustrating paying for a service and not getting anything in return

To be honest, I don't think they will work. We supply (not install) the communal distribution equipment that work with those settings. I have never heard of that complex. Obviously I don't know every single one, but I do know most of them. You should at least get some channels, even without the settings. This makes me thing that there is a connection issue or a faulty part somewhere, so you will probably need an installer to fix it.

No. You can't add settings on TopTV decoders. This is something else...

Do you share a dish in a complex or do you have your own dish?

it is a communial dish. sharing it with roughly 150 people in the flats. it was working fine. just I think we are the only ones with toptv in the complex cos no one else is complaining

You need to complain to your body corporate. They must get the installer in to find the problem. The TopTv dish might need to be realigned.

As far as I understand each unit has to be assigned a frequency to use the disk. You can't all connect on the same frequency over the COAX. I might be wrong but that how DSTV worked in a mate of mines complex.

Everyone uses the same frequencies... The frequencies he used in his decoder was probably because of frequency shifting. Everyone in his complex will still use the same shifted frequencies though.

Update: I have reported to angry Estate manager and he reckons there is a problem with the communal dish and that an installer will fix when he has time... or cows fly. Wierd thing is neighbours are all watching fine. I played around with the frequencies for a few nights and managed to get signal and reception BUT no channels.

Note: I've also tried bashing the decoder with a spatula

Whilst you may have the cables in your house - sometimes they dont connect it to the dish - you have to call the dstv agent that manages your complex to come and connect you. Thats how it worked in my complex. Also what I found is that sometimes some complexes dont make enough ports available for each house, so that they end up disconnecting some people who dont have dstv ( this happened to my friend who lives in one of the baldwin estates apartments)
