DStv decoder, dish and installation price cut

I would love to go TopTV but with current shows like Grey's Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, Flash Forward, Desperate Housewives and Fringe, I really cannot leave just yet!

haha... not gonna help much when you will have paid over R6000 by the end of the year to watch DSTV's "premium content" (dunno what is so premium about it.. good quality poo is still poo). :D

But yes I love watching DSTV sweat! :)

Fox FX should take care of your requirements as Fringe and some of your series are there ( I stand corrected )

Its fantastic if ur not hung up on sport. Theres alternative sports, wave/snowborting etc, plently of music video catering to all tastes from classical to kerrang and audio channels too.

Getting connected is painful, 40 min wait for call centre, but got the 'frequency doctor' from Strandfontein round the next day to connect, an hour later, he sent the code through, updated the decoder software and epg which confirmed the link, 2 hrs later, got an sms giving the amount to pay and payment ref number (not the customer number) and 24 hrs to pay and lo and behold the full suite of channels activated simultaneously!

Been glued to it since then, a refreshing change from the overpriced dstv repeats..

Get lost Multicrap, you had your chance, you blew it.

TopTV FTW!!!

But DStv (MNET really) has the latest seasons and anything before that I have already seen. Plus I like watching the latest season on TV as the USA sees it well in advance meaning the internet is full of spoilers before it has been aired over here. :(

i will never ever go back to monochoice. Unless they do the follwoing:

a) Drop price
b) Get better content

Otherwise, for me its T O P T V all the way!!!!

Goodbye DSTV

I finally got hooked up with TopTV and is thoroughly enjoying it so far.

Loving Kerrang! (Rock music video channel).

Still got to get used to the layout but it's very quick to pick things up.

Gone are the days of DSTV's rip-off services.

I recommend TopTV to students/people who are not earning the mega bucks.

N.B. There is no sport channel as of yet but I'm sure TopTV will come up with something pretty soon ;)

OK so wait, MultiChoice are selling their decoder packages at a price that undercuts Top TV's standard decoder package price, but probably only as long as the R499 Top TV bundles are on promotion for?

What's the point of that?

Two things that TOPTV could have done better was to include an installation voucher with the decoder and a toll free (0800) number instead of the sharecall (0860) number. Would have spared everyone a lot of grief.

This move by DSTV just shows how they have been ripping off South Africans all along. As a matter of principle I will be getting a TOP TV setup. Not only have we been offered inferior content by DSTV we have been royally screwed for years on the decoder and installation pricing. Top TV here I come...I will be enjoying my sports in the comfort of my local pub.

It's called 'reacting to competition'. Multichoice don't give a FF how much you pay for your hardware. They do care about losing customers to a cheaper competitor so they dropped their installation cost so they don't seem so expensive by comparison.
